Demography
Considered rural with a very high population, the barangay still enjoys the wide
spaces and plenty of area to explore and develop.
Education
There is an elementary school (Primary Level) in the barangay and most of the
children are attending school. There is also a high school (Secondary Level) in the
barangay and the students have to go to schools for their secondary education.
Preschoolers with ages 3 to 4 years old are being taken care of by one (1) Day Care
Worker. With the support from the Municipal Social Welfare Development Office
(MSWDO) the barangay through the Day Care Worker provides feeding program to
preschoolers.
Health
Peace and security in the barangay is being maintained by sixteen (16) Barangay
Tanods and one (1) Chief Tanod. Aside from roving every night and monitoring the
peace and order situation in the barangay, they also assist the barangay officials and
personnel in effectively implementing their programs, like providing safety and order in
every activity conducted and even serve summons to respondents for Lupon hearings.
Economic Sector
Agriculture
The major economic activity in the barangay is mostly farming and fishing. It can be
said that there is an abundance of farm products in Barangay Bulasa since farmers are
mostly engaged in growing vegetables like eggplant, bitter gourd (Ampalaya) to name a
few and legumes like peanuts, beans or even garlic. Banana and sweet potato consist
also as major products of the barangay while some are cultivating rice and corn. Agro-
industry is a growing economic investment in Barangay Bulasa.
There are fifteen (15) sari-sari stores operating in the barangay and one (1) bakery.
Businesses like pharmacy or refilling station is not present in the barangay so that
residents have to go to neighboring barangays in case there is a need for medicines or
even buy some refilling water.
TOURISM
Barangay Bulasa is blessed in terms of natural wonders because it has the “Linaw
Spring” and “Arnis Spring”. Recently, the spring has become an attraction not only
within the municipality of Argao, but throughout the neighboring municipalities as well.
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
The Barangay Solid Waste Management Committee (BSWMC) is taking charge of the
waste management in the barangay. Part of the program is to encourage every
household to have their own compost pit in order to reduce the volume of garbage. The
Material Recovery Facility (MRF) of the barangay is already in place, however further
efforts have still to be done to make it really functional. Segregation at source is not yet
practiced by majority of the constituents.
DRRM
Barangay Bulasa is prone to flooding because of the spring and the river that
overflows during heavy rains. The farms near the river are usually affected and there
were times when the vegetables and other crops were eroded or destroyed by floods.
There are also areas near the river that are prone to landslide because of the type of soil
and there are no natural barriers like trees. The barangay does not have enough
equipment for use in time of emergencies as shown in Table 6 below.
