DepEd’s Vision, Mission and Core Values
- This was discussed by the Master Teacher of Isla General IS,
Marlibeth I. Miranda, MACDD. As she said, leaders must be
visionary - a visionary leader ensures the vision becomes
reality by stating clear goals, outlining a strategic plan for
achieving those goals and equipping and empowering each
member to take action on the plan at the organizational, team
and individual levels.
- It had been also said by the speaker that leaders must have the
social skill to understand the team's needs and desires. They
have to motivate people and make them work with passion and
enthusiasm. So, leaders must be friendly to the teachers and
learners, and always be approachable.
- According to Mrs. Miranda, leadership is focused on vision,
motivation, the future, and the teams and people in your
school. So, School Heads must act both as a leaders and a
manager. Management provides systems and processes
essential to the smooth day-to-day running of the school. Both
leadership and management are essential for successful school
development.
Focusing on the Teaching and Learning
- Rolly B. Ravelo, MAED, Principal – III of Cantilan Pilot School
was the speaker of this topic. The general objective of this was
to improve the SH competencies on Instructional Leadership
and
Supervision.
- He restated the line “good instructional leaders + good teachers
= good students”. Thus, there is a direct correlation between
the performance of the school leaders and teachers to the kind
of school learners, specifically to their academic achievements
and values.
