CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY

This chapter explains the data collection methods, data collection resources and data

collection analysis for gathering data on the specified subject. Additionally, it requires obtaining

the information required for the following chapter.

Research Design

The researchers used the experimental method in this study. According to the Indeed

Editorial team (2021), there are two main categories of research methods: qualitative research

methods and quantitative research methods. Quantitative research methods involve using

numbers to measure data. Researchers can use statistical analysis to find connections and

meaning in the data. Experiments involve testing a theory in a lab environment, in a controlled

area or with willing study participants in different environments. You might ask participants to

complete tests verbally, on paper or on a computer. Some experiments could involve multiple

simulations.

An experiment was conducted for this study. The experiment demonstrated the difference

in plant growth. Depending on the substance used to water the plants, the researcher has

observed any changes in the growth of the plants. The data will be shown for analysis of the

experiment's components.
Research Locale

The experimental study was conducted in Dagatan, Lipa City, Batangas. The materials

are easily attained within the location.

Subject of the study

In this study, the researchers are assigned to investigate the effectiveness of using various

liquids in plants. Thus, it was done to find out what effect it will have on the plants. The

hypothesis that the researchers provided is as follows:

1. The researcher’s used various liquids to water the plants.

2. The researcher’s used a ruler every day to measure and differentiate the plant’s growth.

3. The researcher’s compared the differences and effectiveness of using different various of

liquids in the plant.

Materials

 Cup

 Monggo seeds

 Salt water

 Vinegar water

 Sugar water
 Dish soap water

 Water

 Spoon

 Ruler

Collection of Materials

All of the materials used for the experiment were all readily accessible and found in a

regular household.

Procedure

Preparing the liquid needed for watering.

1. Prepare 5 different cups to provide for each liquid.

2. In the first cup, put salt and mix it with water.

3. In the second cup, put dish soap and mix it with water.

4. In the third cup, put sugar and mix it with water.

5. In the fourth cup, put vinegar.

6. In the last or fifth cup, put water.

By following the said procedures, the researchers managed to observe the growth of the

plants. The collected data will be shown in the next chapter using graphs.
