IdentifyING the various physiological, psychological, social and
economic challenges being faced by urban society due to the
pandemic.
1. Physiological challenges
● Increased risk of severe illness and
death
● Overburden of healthcare systems,
difficulties in accessing healthcare
● Disruption of chronic disease
management
● Spread of other infectious
diseases
● Negative impact on physical and
mental well-being.
These challenges may vary from place to
place and community to community.
2.PSYCHOLOGICAL CHALLENGES
● Work from home gained popular interest of people

● Home offices or a study became popular as an


essential spaces in household
● Social isolation and limited access to support
systems have also contributed to psychological
problem

● The pandemic has caused widespread stress and


uncertainty, leading to mental health issues such
as anxiety and depression

● Mental health related precautions and awareness has


gained recognition

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a
variety of social challenges for urban
societies
● Such as disruptions in social
interactions and support networks
● Education
● Mental health services
● Support services
● Cultural and recreational activities
● Religious and spiritual practices
● Family and personal relationships.

These disruptions can lead to feelings of loneliness, isolation, mental health issues, financial insecurity and
decreased social engagement. These challenges may vary from place to place and community to community.
4. ECONOMIC CHALLENGES
The pandemic has led to a global economic downturn,
with many businesses shutting down and unemployment
rates rising. This has led to financial hardship for many
individuals and families, especially those who were
already struggling economically.

reduced productivity and isolation.

has made it difficult for individuals and
businesses to plan for the future.
● Inequalities: The pandemic has
highlighted the existing economic

5. CHALLENGES IN EDUCATION AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT
● Curtailing dropouts during and post pandemic
● Decline in learning outcomes and well-being
● Integration of digital based learning
● Reduced opportunities for social interaction with extended family,
peers, and community members
● Drastic reductions in face-to-face teaching and instructional time
● Negative effects on students perception of the value of study

The pandemic has caused widespread school closures,


leading to a shift to remote learning and a disruption of
educational opportunities for many children. Additionally,
many children have been affected by the economic and
social disruptions caused by the pandemic.
