Task 1:
Read the first part of the article. For each question write the correct answer. Write one word

Exchanging, or ‘swapping’ things is becoming very popular. You can swap with your friends, your
family, your classmates, and there are swapping websites too. It’s good because you give away
something that you don’t want, and you get something that you do. Also, we put fewer things in the
rubbish – and that’s good for the environment!
We don’t always swap things. We can do actions instead. Imagine – your classmate has got some
video games. He’s also got a problem with his computer. You are good at repairing computers. You
fix his computer, he gives you the games. Perfect!
Swapping isn’t a new way to get things. It was the first way, thousands of years ago. Then it was
called ‘bartering’ and people exchanged food and warm clothes. Later, some people’s job was
travelling round the world to ‘barter’ different things in different countries. Today we can do it from
our laptops. So – who would like a nice orange jacket with green flowers on it?
