Minimum system and hardware requirements of software:


• Minimum Pentium 133 processor or equivalent
• Operating system Windows 98, Windows NT4, Windows 2000 Prof., Windows XP Home or
Prof.
• Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 or higher
• Available hard disk space: approx. 10MB
• Minimum resolution of monitor 640x480 (higher recommended) and at least 256 colors
• 1 free serial interface (COM1 to COM4), might have to be set to parameter 9600/8/N/1
• 1 adapter cable / read out cable

Function description:
With the Liebherr Analyzer Software CEP12, up to 10 service codes occurring on the machine
can be read from the electronic box CEP12/08C, CEP12/20 and higher and displayed on the
monitor with possible causes. In addition, the service code memory can be cleared in the
electronic box with this software.

Note:
With this software, NO changes or parameterizations can be made on the electronic box and
the machine.
The software can only be used for electronic box versions CEP12/08C, CEP12/20 or higher!

Installation instructions:

Start the software installation by double-clicking the „Setup.exe“ file.


At the first input request, the license agreement is shown. After reading the license agreement,
confirm by selecting [ACCEPT] to continue the installation.
If [DECLINE] is selected, the installation will be cancelled.

The next step is the selection of the installation directory – keep the standard setting. The
software is installed on the hard disk after pressing the [INSTALL] box.
The software is copied into the desired directory and a link on the desktop is established.

During installation, no registration entries and no other files are placed in other directories.
This prevents incompatibilities with other programs and systems!
The program can be uninstalled by deleting the desktop link and the installation directory
(most often C:\Cep-12) along with the files it contains.

In the installation directory are also the instructions in German, English and French.
They can be read and / or printed with the Acrobat Reader.

Structure and menus:
The main screen is structured as follows.

Menu item [FILE]

To reload previously saved service files and to manipulate the corresponding memo field,
select [LOAD].
To save the changed record, select [SAVE AS]. The record is saved only after it is explicitly
confirmed with [SAVE].
The current record can be printed out by selecting [PRINT]. The memo field, the service code
with short description (shown in the cell Error-No.) and additional information for the individual
service codes can be printed out in list format. The file to be printed must be in the installation
directory, otherwise the error message

appears and the printout might not be properly formatted.


End the CEP12 program by selecting [CLOSE].

Menu item [LANGUAGE]

Here the desired language can be selected. [GERMAN], [ENGLISH] or [FRENCH] are
available. When changing to another language, all menus and all service codes are translated
into the selected language.

Menu item [COM]

Interfaces [COM1] to [COM4] can be selected.

Menu item [CLEAR ERROR]

Saved service codes can be deleted via this menu item. After the safeguard request Reset ok
[YES/NO] – click the desired function. All saved service codes will be deleted.

[USING HELP] shows a short explanation in the large text window.

Operation:
To be able to use the software properly, it is necessary to plug the special cable

with the 55 pin Cannon plug

into the electronic box, with the starter switch turned off. Insert the 9 pin D-Sub socket

into the free serial interface COM1 to COM4 in your computer. Insert the plug for the power
supply

into the 24V socket on the instrument panel of your crawler dozer or loader.
Now turn the starter switch to the "on" position to supply power to the electronic box.

Start the Liebherr Analyzer Software CEP12 by double-clicking the program icon on the
desktop. The software status line should change from „Comm. Error“ to „Comm. OK“ in the
lower section of the monitor.

If „Comm. Error“ continues to appear, change the interface from COM1 to COM4 in the menu
[COM] or check the interface parameters as described in the minimum system and hardware
requirement section.
If the status report is „Comm. ok“, then the connection to the electronic box has been
established.
Existing service codes are shown immediately in the program with service code and short
description.

The possible cause of the problem and a detailed explanation appears in the large text field
underneath only after clicking on a service code in the short description field, the line is
highlighted in blue.
If there are no service codes in the box, then none are shown on the monitor.
The service codes can be deleted by selecting [CLEAR ERROR]. Confirm the safeguard
request with „YES“, the service codes will be deleted, or select „NO“ to stop deletion.

If you would like to save existing service codes for documentation or for other reasons, select
[FILE] and [SAVE AS]. Select the directory and name the file. This must be done before
deleting the service codes.

The memo window will now appear,

where additional information, such as vehicle, date (use arrow keys up / down to make date
selection), operating hours, F/No. (PIN), checked by, customer and memo (for maximum 4
lines additional text for detailed explanation) can be entered. Check the item Memo later in this
manual for further details to these fields.
By confirming [SAVE] (appears only if a new memo is entered), save the memo under the
entered name.

Memo:
When loading a saved service code file or when saving one, or when selecting the menu item
[USING MEMO], the memo field, which includes the following fields, opens:
• Machine – data of crawler model (selection is made from a list)
• Oh – operating hours (for example: 5678)
• F/N (PIN) – (serial number of machine – at least 4 digit)
• Date – date when saving file (for example: 2003/09/01 – can also be changed)
• Checked by – name of inspector
• Customer – detailed customer description
• Memo – additional crawler details (for example: condition, special occurrences, maximum
entry 4 lines)

Press [SAVE] to close the memo field – Caution: The file is only saved as a file if a name is
entered in [FILE], [SAVE AS] and if the entry is confirmed with [SAVE].
The corresponding memo field is always permanently linked with the saved file.

Service code memory:


The service code memory is structured as loop memory and comprises a maximum of 10
service codes. They are saved in sequence, one after the other. The latest service code is
saved under number 1, the next under number 2, etc.
This provides you with a chronological sequence of occurrence of service codes.
If more than 10 service codes occur, they are saved, of course, and simply move the earliest
service codes from the chart. These moved service codes will be lost.

Special features:
It is normal that the screen might flicker a little in the area of the error indication, due to
communication with COM1 to COM4. This often happens if the computer is not powerful
enough.
Caution: Only serial interfaces COM1 to COM4 are supported by the software.

After service and adjustment work, it is possible that service code entries are saved.
For that reason, check the service code memory before and after each service and after
adjustment work on electrical components (such as pedals, solenoid valves, etc.) and
delete the memory, if necessary.

401 Problem - travel joystick (travel)


Possible causes:
1. Travel joystick defective in direction forward / reverse (travel command / travel direction)
2. Wiring harness error (electronic schematic plug X31 pins H, E or X32 pins M, r)
3. E-Box failure (pin D does not supply the desired voltage - measure X32 pins D
against b should be 24 V )
4. Check Diesel potentiometer and RPM sensors (especially if errors occur sporadically), replace as necessary
(repeat test with X21, X22, X29 unplugged).
Measure resistance value with multimeter between the corresponding contacts and housings (potentiometer
housing, sensor housing). The resistance must be infinite - larger than 20MegaOhm).
Reconnect the potentiometer, loosen the potentiometer axle and turn slowly in both directions, with the starter
switch turned on and the machine ready to travel. ) When the potentiometer has contact against ground, the
machine is turned off.
5. Check charging voltage - tension must be <30V.

402 Problem - travel joystick (steering) or steering pedal right
Possible causes:
1. Travel joystick defective in direction left / right (steering command / steering direction)
1.1. Wiring harness error (electronic schematic plug X31 pins D, G or X32 pins j, AA)
2. Steering pedal potentiometer right is defective
2.2. Wiring harness error (electronic schematic plug X72 pins 4, 9 or X32 pins j, AA)
3. E-Box error (Pin D does not supply the desired voltage - measure X32 pins D
against b should be 24 V )
4. Check Diesel potentiometer and RPM sensors (especially if errors occur sporadically), replace as necessary
(repeat test with X21, X22, X29 unplugged).
Measure resistance value with multimeter between the corresponding contacts and housings (potentiometer
housing, sensor housing). The resistance must be infinite - larger than 20MegaOhm).
Reconnect the potentiometer, loosen the potentiometer axle and turn slowly in both directions, with the ignition
turned on and the machine ready to drive. ) When the potentiometer has contact against ground, then the
machine is turned off.

403 Error steering pedal left

2. Wire harness defective (electronic schematic plug X72 Pins 5, 6, 7 or X32 Pins L, u, X)

404 Permissible max. current value right or left too high

405 Relation between current right to left when steering is faulty
