Judul Materi : The role of guidance in developing adolescent mental health

Proses bimbingan konseling terjadi antara Guru BK/Konselor dengan Peserta didik/Konseli.
Guru BK/Konselor dapat berkolaborasi dengan kepala sekolah, guru mapel, orang tua dan
ahli untuk penyelesaian masalah konseli. Guru BK/Konselor yang melaksanakan proses
bimbingan dan konseling ini tentunya perlu memililiki beberapa kompetensi dan karakteristik
yang komprehensif dalam beberapa hal yakni :
a. Knowledge
b. Skills
c. Personality

Ada beberapa strategi layanan yang perlu digunakan dalam proses konseling yakni :
a. Large group guidance
b. Class room guidance
c. Small group guidance
d. Individual counceling
e. Group Counseling
f. Home visit
g. Case conference

There are two part of Mental health problems of students:


a. Emotional problems including helplessness, often get angry or react which is superfluous
towards something, feelings of worthlessness, feelings of fear, anxiety or twisting which is
superfluous, lack of concentration, feeling that life is very heavy, and pessimistic feelings
facing the future.
b. Behavior Problems including consuming alcohol or illegal drugs, likes to interface with
the rights of others or violate the law (such as bullying, criminality), doing something that
can threaten life, continuously make a diet or have an obsession with having slim body, avoid
friendship or enjoy living alone, frequent daydreaming, often displays unkind behavior or
commits mischief in school.

Strategies to Prevent stress:


1. Stressor management
2. Avoiding stressor
3. Developing stress resistance
4. Managing stress reactions

On a macro scale, strategies that should be done by governments as policy makers to develop
the mental health of citizens (children, youth, and adults) are as follows:
1. Leaders or officials should be uswah hasanah, in meaning by being a good example or a
role model for society in carrying out moral values, such as: simple living, being honest,
being trustworthy or responsible in carrying out duties.
2. Creating a conducive, stable, socio-political-economy climate- that can empower wealthy
lives of the citizens.
3. Creating a conducive religious climate for each adherent
4. Developing mutual respect, and tolerance among religious, ethnic, and racial groups
5. Caring or and preserving a clean, green, and beautiful environment
6. Issuing laws or regulations as efforts to combat the various factor that trigger the spread
of moral decadence.

II. Materi Kedua

Judul Materi : The future roles of school Counsellors

When topic covid-19 started, everything changed. So, we work from home online
then video conferencing where teachers are doing meetings online and the exams is replaced
with online assessment and besides that there was also an increase of patient hospital and
isolation units. We have lockdowns and movement restrictions, there were no social
weathering, no outdoor activitie, and etc.
So besides that the mental health issues was also a concern why it costs people, not
only students but also workers. For example:
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Fear
- Loneliness
- Trauma
- Isolation
And then, we comeback to new normal education. So there challenges of school
counsellors during covid 19.
1. Readiness to digital technology
- Unprepared for digital techonolgy
- Lack of technology mastery
- Internet coverage
- Student’s willingness and openness via online
- Risk of online counselling

2. Juggling between family and work


- Work from home, commitment, supervising children with online learning, and
conducting guidance and counselling programme online.

3. Time Boundary
-Working around the clock
-Students contacting at any time (whatsapp, etc.

4. Meeting the client


- Counsellors have a dilemma how can they meet the client
- Emotional connection with clients
- Inavailability of gadgets
- Unstable internet connection
- Uncertainty
- Confidenctiality issues from clients side
- Timing

But now, we as counsellors must use social media platforms to disseminate information,
create awareness, provide support, and foster wellbeing. So we must upgrade our skills
and knowledge, such as:
a. Keeping abreast with the current trends and technique in guidance and counselling
b. Attend training in certain therapy
c. Come up with our own modalities or techniques that suits a client
d. Need to be Creative-previous technique may not be relevant now. Modify and don’t
compare
e. Collaborate with other professionals

III. Materi Ketiga

Judul Materi : Transpersonal Mental Health in Dealing with Disruption in Millenium)

Mental health encompassers emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It


influences cognition, perception, and behavior. It also determines how an individual
handles stress, interpersonal relationship, and decision-making. Mental health includes our
emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It
alson helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.
Mental health is importants at every stage of life, frm childhood and adolescence
adulthood.
Transpersonal psychology, or spiritual psychology, is a sub-field or school of
psychology that integrates the spiritual and transcendent aspects of the human experience
with the framework of modern psychology. The transpersonal is defined as “experiences in
which that sense of identity or self extends beyond (trans) the individual or personal to
encompass wider aspects of humankind, life, psyche or cosmos”. It has also been defined as
“development beyond conventional, personal or individual levels”.
Issues considered in transpersonal psychologhy include spiritual self-development,
self beyond the ego, peak experience, mystical experience, systemic trance, spiritual crises,
spiritual evolution, religious conversion, altered states of consciousness, spiritual practices
and other sublime and/or unusually expanded experiences of living.

Conventional Psychology Spiritual Psychology


It focuses on three areas; physical, mental, It focuses on four areas; physical, mental,
and emotional. emotional and core being or inner self.

It based on the concept of impermanence It can help you experience peace, joy,
and helps you cope with the constant unconditional love and to live your life in
changes like what you do, what you think harmony both inside and out by accessing
and what you feel. your inner self of your core.

IV. Materi Keempat

Judul Materi : Adolescent resilience in the era of disruption

The definition of adolescent


Adolescents are individuals who are in period transition between childhood and adulthood
Usually 12 until 24 years. And the second one is from Indonesia health ministry version
which say that adolescents are individuals who are 10 until 19 years and unmarried.

The meaning of adolescence


1. The important period of life
2. The transition period
3. The periods of change in life
4. Period of self-discovery
5. Self determination
6. The time towards adulthood

Adolescent developmental task


- To achieve new and more matures relations with peers of both sexes
- Adopting socially approved masculine or feminime adult roles
- To accept ther acquired physique and use their body effectively
- Achive emotional independence
- Preparing for an academic career
- Select and prepare for an occupation
- Develop personal attitude toward marriage and family living
- Adjust to new intellectual abilities
- To accept and adopt socially responsible behavior
The risk of adolescent in disruption era
- Negative Self Concept
Adolescent self-concept is strongly influenced by relationships and interaction that
occur in social media. Responses from others on social media, will shape a teenager’s
self-concept.
- Negative self-esteem
Adolescents who get few likes and negative comments in social media will make
them feel bad, disliked and unappreciated.
- Identity confusion
Adolescents who lack recognition and support from other, especially on social media
may experience identity confusion.
- Imitation and identification
Social media is a reference for teenagers in finding their identity. They will follow
their idolized figure on social media. They will imitate everything their idol displays
on social media.
