    Blended Learning: Where tradition meets technology

    What is Blended Learning?

     After Covid hit the country in 2020 and all the schools were closed, the only possible way to
    continue education was learning through online platform. This was the time when online
    platforms for learning came to boom. But soon after, people realized the drawbacks of complete
    online platform for learning.
     Although the concept of blended learning already existed but most of the people were unaware
    of it.
     The most basic definition of blended learning is that when the mode of learning has a mixture of
    online as well as offline features. In this mode, the perks of face-to-face and online learning is
    mixed together in such a proportion that it will make learning not only interesting but also easily
    to retain for a longer time. The correlation between both the modes should be supportive in
    nature so that that maximum gain can be extracted from them.
     The use of blended learning appears to be widespread, especially in higher education settings.
    Blended learning was named one of the most important themes in educational development in
    2016 research.
     It is not required that blended learning adhere to a specific educational strategy. It has a good
    blend of both the modes of learning which makes it more interesting.
    What’s in it for different communities.

    For students:

     Students are free to move at their own speed. Online resources can be completed more quickly
    by individuals who are knowledgeable about the subject, while others who are less sure of
    themselves can pause and rewatch the more challenging sections.
     It's crucial to remember that different strategies will suit certain kids and their unique demands.
     There is always material available. Any student can log in and access the classes, lectures, and
    other resources at the time that will help them study the most, regardless of when they learn
    best.
     It might boost retention. Numerous studies conducted in the 2000s claimed that blended
    learning increased students' information retention. Even if more recent research is required, it
    might be advantageous.
     There are new technologies introduced. With blended learning, students have the opportunity
    to use cutting-edge gear and software. Learning to use such technologies can equip students for
    endeavors in the future.

    For teachers:

     Cross-contextual education: Teachers can use a variety of tools to give learning materials in
    various circumstances. For instance, when instructing a certain topic, they might use pictures,
    video tutorials, and real time materials from internet.
     Aim high and monitor development: Teachers and trainers can monitor their students' progress
    with the help of many blended learning tools. This may help educators understand the most
    efficient techniques.
     Make a customized strategy: Teachers can then concentrate on adjusting their face-to-face
    class time to the needs of their students by generating online materials.

    For Working Professionals:

     Groups: Blended learning is a group activity. It enables a teaching staff to collaborate in order to
    help hundreds of students who are progressing at their own pace. Learning has become more
    transparent and social thanks to blended learning.
     Recommendations: By enabling smart to suggest preferred learning experiences for groups of
    students, smart recommendation engines and lesson sharing platforms break down the isolation
    of teaching.
     Earning potential: New staffing arrangements, new positions, and increased learning hours will
    enable many teachers to earn higher salaries than are customary at the moment.
     Tailored Professional Development: A lot of blended learning platform offer personalized
    learning environment. This has helped working professions to save time and learn different skills
    in comfortably.
     Career options: As a result of blended learning, teachers now have a wider range of possible
    teaching settings. Teachers have a wider range of employers and working conditions to select
    from as more students combine online and in-person instruction. Leadership positions are
    expanding in schools thanks to team-based frameworks. Specialists can choose their own hours
    and work from home.

    Flip side of the story!!

    As nothing in the world comes only with positive aspects, here are some drawbacks of blended learning.

     Obtaining resources: Students that use a blended learning paradigm are frequently required to
    use technology outside of the classroom. Online learning may be challenging or even impossible
    if every learner does not have equal access to the resources.
     Assisting different students: There isn't one universal strategy for schooling. Without the proper
    level of support, students with varying needs and digital literacies might not find technology-
    based learning as accessible.
     An absence of direct interaction: Self-directed learning has its advantages, but students who
    9are having trouble with the online content might not be able to figure things out on their own.
     There could be a lack of infrastructure: Setting up the internal framework required to
    undertake blended learning can be challenging. There could not be enough money or resources.
     Wide range implementation: It may take some time to transition to a blended learning
    environment. In addition to the required setup and logistics, training and material preparation
    are frequently required. It might be challenging to balance this time with the demands of the
    existing teaching schedule.

    So finally…

    Blended learning has gained popularity over the past few years, which is understandable. Both students
    and teachers can benefit from the strategy of combining face-to-face learning with online and remote
    activities. But it's crucial to keep in mind that not everyone will profit from this kind of education, and it
    may not even adequately meet all learners' needs.
