DEFINITION:
Ethics refers to the guidelines for conduct, that address questions of morality.
Value provides the principles and ideals upon which judgement is made of what is more
important.
What are Professional Ethics and Values
Professional values and ethics are beliefs and principles that an individual possesses to guide
oneself to evaluate what is right and wrong in a professional environment. In short, it is the
imaginary moral line that one would have internally to uphold professional actions.
The actual standards for professional values and ethics may differ depending on many factors
including one’s culture, religion, beliefs. Often the standards are based on society’s accepted
beliefs and principles (the norm behaviors) in which people would accept to live and work in
harmony with one another.
Do You Possess Professional Values and Ethics?
Although professional values may differ depending on the profession, there are some universal
values that we all should possess and practice to be literate in professional values and ethics.
