Governance is how politicians use power


to make decisions (law, regulations) and
control behaviors, and implement these
decisions on their constituents and to
themselves.

democracy modeled on the U.S. system.

- a presidential system of government


with a bicameral legislature and an
independent judiciary.

1. The Bill of Rights is a list of rights and


freedoms guaranteed to all people in
the country.

reflect respect for human life and human
dignity.

3. The Rule of Law means that everyone


must obey the law and be held
accountable if they violate it. This is
sometimes referred to as "due process of
law."

1987 Constitution, Article III (Bill of Rights),


Section 1 states
“No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or
property without due process of law, nor shall
any person be denied the equal protection of
the laws.”

4. Political Tolerance means that while


the majority of the people rule in a
democracy, the rights of the minority
must be protected.

5. Transparency means in a democracy,


the press and the people are able to get
information about what decisions are
being made, by whom and why.

states

the State adopts and implements a


policy of full public disclosure of all its
transactions involving public interest.

6. Economic Freedom means that the


government allows some private
ownership of property and businesses,
and that the people are allowed to
choose their own work and labor unions.

that Democracy has regular elections,
and have independent branches of
government for check and balance.

degree of consanguinity or affinity, and
when several members of a family
occupy various positions in government
simultaneously
