Practical 1: Creating a Folder
Aim: To create a folder on the desktop and create files in it.

3. In the drop-down menu, hover the cursor over the “new” option
4. Choose the option of the ‘new folder.’ Rename the folder as per your choice.

Practical 2: MS Paint
Aim: To create a Project in MS Paint.
Steps:
1. Open the MS Paint application.
2. Use the various tools provided in MS Paint, such as shapes, fill, pencil, brushes etc.
to create your project.
3. Save the file. You may also save your paint project in a specific format as
a .jpeg, .png, .bmp, .gif or any other format as you wish.

Practical 3: Notepad
Aim: To create a Project in Notepad.
Steps:
1. Open the Notepad application.
2. Use the various fonts and options available in notepad to create a file in Notepad
3. Save the file with .txt extension and an appropriate name. You may also save it with other file
extensions if required.

Aim: To create a WordPad Project.

Practical 5: Display Properties, Screensaver, Date, Time and Wallpaper
Aim: To Implement various display properties, set a screensaver, date and time
and the wallpaper.
Steps to change display properties:
1. Right click on the desktop to open the drop-down Menu and choose the personalise option.
2. Choose the display properties you want to change like the themes, colours, fonts etc. based on
your preferences

Steps to set Wallpaper:
1. Open the Personalisation settings by right clicking on the desktop and choose the personalise
option.
2. Choose the background option to set the wallpaper.
3. Choose the browse photos options to set a specific picture background. You may also set a
solid colour or a windows spotlight background.
4. Select the picture you want from your device and select the choose photo option.

Steps to set screensaver:
1. Open the Personalisation settings by right clicking on the desktop and choose the personalise
option.
2. Choose the option of the lock screen
3. Scroll down to the option of the screensaver
5. Choose the screensaver of your choice and set the time after which the screensaver should
start.

Practical 7: Paste and Paste Special
Aim: Demonstrate the concept of Paste and Paste Special in MS Word
Steps:
1. Open the MS Word application.
2. Create a new document.
3. Using the shortcut keys of ctrl + c, ctrl + v. Paste information directly from the clipboard or
use the paste option on the home tab in the extreme left.
4. To paste the information with specific formatting, such as pasting it in HTML format or as an
image use the paste special feature. Either by using the drop-down menu under the paste
option in the home tab or the keyboard shortcut of Alt + Ctrl + V. Choose the format to paste
the content as.

Practical 8: Watermark
Aim: Create a Watermark in MS Word
Steps:
1. Open the MS Word application.
2. Create a new document.
3. In the design tab, choose the watermark option in the right end.
4. Choose the watermark of your choice from the drop-down window or create a custom
watermark.
5. Press ok to apply the watermark to the document with your preferences. You may set a Text
watermark or a picture watermark.

Steps:
1. Open the MS Word application.
2. Create a new document either by making your own template or using the template provided
by MS Word.
3. Enter your details regarding your experience and skills in the CV and format as per your
preferences. Add your picture and give proper references and information.

Practical 10: Time Table
Aim: Create a Timetable in MS Word
Steps:
1. Open the MS Word application.
2. Create a new document.
3. Create the title heading for the timetable
4. Using the Inset table feature in the insert tab, create a table as per your requirements and fill
in the details as required.
5. You may use various features of the Table tools to edit the design and layout of the timetable
as per your choice.

Practical 11: Mail Merge
Aim: Use the Mail merge feature in MS Word
Steps:
1. Open the MS Word application.
2. Create a new document.
3. Write the document you would like to mail
4. Go to the mailings tab and select the option of “Start Mail merge”
5. From the drop down menu select the option you would like to use and fill in
the required details regarding the recipients.
6. You may choose the mail merge wizard in order to perform the tasks step by
step.
7. Once completed with filling out the address lists and choosing your recipients you may
generate the electronic email to send out.
