In MasterSeal 6100 FX, cement binder crystals are covered by polymer film creating
a secondary elastic network. Pictures of hardened material (28 days).

Improvement of performance of
compared to OPC mortars.
In a OPC system, there is evolution in the hydrates generated from 28 days to 3 years.
At 28 days, main aluminate is ettringite mixed with C-S-H .
From 28 days to 3 years the amount of monosulfate increases and there is little evidence of
ettringite remaining in the paste.
There is no significant evolution in the nature of the hydrates over time in the case of mixed binder
systems.
Early hydration increases the ratio of ettringite finely intermixed in the hydrated mix.
From 28 days to 3 years there is some shit to monosulfate but much ettringite clearly
remains.

Measures must be taken to prevent crack formation both at the expansion joints of the structure and
where elements are of different materials, e.g. connections.
In real applications, durability MasterSeal 6100 FX can never be evaluated as a single membrane.
Waterproofing best practices have to be followed. This include joint sealing, covings in kicker joints
and careful substrate preparation.
MasterSeal 6100 FX has to be applied, fully bonded, to substrate.
All of these factors have to be included into the equation of durability.
