Pediatric laboratories and medicine have been widely developed and used

nowadays. Especially in the 20th century, many medical developments were created in
the medical field. Although pediatrics has many challenges, the pediatric department has
done well and offered many opportunities to improve patient care, clinical and
laboratory-based research and trial, and education. Pediatric clinics and maintenance are
well needed since children are different from adults; they require special care since they
have unique development, growth, and diseases, which makes a challenge in the field of
pediatrics. Thus, the need for pediatric clinics is highly relevant since the field of
pediatrics is expanding. (Coffin et al., 2002)

A pediatric development clinic was implemented last 2014 to provide care and
comprehensive follow-up for children. Pediatric clinics are implemented so children can
undergo clinical assessment, as well as counseling sessions. Both clinical assessment and
counseling sessions are present in pediatric clinics. The study stated that pediatric clinics
could be implemented in rural areas since there are numerous high-risk infants in those
areas. Also, newborns and infants are not the only ones benefitting from a pediatric
clinic, but also children of many ages. (Ngabireyimana et al., 2017)

Another reason why pediatric clinics are highly needed, especially in the 21st
century, is to provide services to children and to be able to compare the developmental
outcomes of children who received these services and those who were not able to receive
any services from pediatric clinics. The need to improve neonatal health and mortality
has gained significance globally. The development of neonatal care all across the globe
has also been spread, and training was even provided for doctors and personnel in
pediatric clinics. (Kirk, 2019)

Pediatric clinics are not the only clinics used by pediatricians but also retail
clinics. A study by Garbutt et al. revealed that most parents took their children to retail
clinics rather than pediatric clinics because it was more accessible. They stated that retail
clinics were more accessible because pediatric clinics were often closed during their visit;
thus, the need for more pediatric clinics and their opening time is needed. Also, retail
clinics are primarily located in high-traffic retail stores wherein they provide services for
basic care and minor illnesses. However, major illnesses are not covered in retail clinics,
which is another reason why pediatric clinics are needed. (Garbutt et al., 2013)

Pediatric clinics have much potential, considering the many challenges in children's
healthcare and medicine, which is why the study of the Nuffield council states that
healthcare services are needed and that they must be effective and safe since research is
not enough because it needs to be applied in real situation and to actual children. Even
though clinical and medical research has many contributions in the field, the need for a
place or settings to perform the actual research and to provide healthcare services is
needed for the health and medical well-being of children and young people.
