can dramatically increase the cost of buying a property. The Hong Kong government has a
new stamp duty called Buyer’s Stamp Duty in 2012. It aims to slow down the drastic rise in

investors. Under Buyer’s Stamp Duty, non-permanent-resident buyers buying residential

making him first Hong Kong leader convicted (判罪) in criminal trial

Donald Tsang Yam-kuen became Hong Kong’s first ever Chief Executive to be
convicted in a criminal trial as the High Court on Friday found him guilty of
misconduct in public office when he was the city’s leader. After a six-week trial, Tsang
faces a maximum sentence of seven years behind bars for misconduct in public office
