1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of this Method Statement is to describe the methodology of carrying out the
construction, quality control and safety aspects related to the installation Enclosed Switches &
Isolators of Package 1A, 1B & 1C - Fit out of Cluster (A, B & C), with respect to project
specifications and specific scope of works undertaken under the contractual obligations of the
contract.
1.1 This Method Statement is developed based on the detailed design drawings “Issued for
Construction”.
2.0 SCOPE
The scope of this Method Statement is to define the procedures of the Contractor to adopt the
Installation, of “Enclosed Switches & Isolators” as required by the project Package 1A, 1B & 1C -
Fit out of Cluster (A, B & C). The installation procedure shall follow the execution of actual work at
site in accordance with KAHRAMAA Regulation, IFC drawings, QCS 2014, project specifications
and manufacturer’s recommended Installation.

The requirements that will be engaged for installation of Enclosed Switches & Isolators
works will be as follows:

6.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
6.1 Project Manager
6.1.1 To ensure fulfillment of time and efficient use of company resources, cost target for
project to achieve the completion date within reasonable time.
6.1.2 Responsible under command responsibility for safety and proper planning of
resources at the project site for the welfare of the personnel under his management
involved at the jobsite.
6.1.3 Performs project management functions.
6.1.4 Attend Coordination meeting with Main Contractor as required for the completion of
the project.
6.1.5 Implementation of company procedures and policies at project site.
6.1.6 To ensure fulfillment of allotted time and cost effective target for project.
6.1.7 Shall perform other jobs as maybe required by Top Management.
6.2 QA/QC Engineer QA/QC is part of the quality management, focused on providing the
quality requirements per standards fulfilled with quality of workmanship.
6.2.1 Responsible for the inspections, testing and /or review of test data and quality audit
based on project documentation requirements.
6.2.2 Shall carry out periodic inspection of completed work, review of testing and
commissioning in coordination with the submitted data by site engineer, shall comply
with the project documentation requirements.
6.2.3 Shall perform coordination with the Engineer, Project Manager, Site Engineers, and
Safety Officers for the implementation and compliance with the Safety, Quality
Management System and work standard requirements.
6.3 QC Inspector is part of the quality management, focused on providing the quality
requirements per standards fulfilled with quality of workmanship.
6.3.1 Responsible for the inspections of workmanship for the installation of Lighting
Control System Works.
6.3.2 Shall carry out day to day inspection of the on-going and completed works, review of
testing and commissioning in coordination with the submitted data by Electrical
Engineer, shall comply with the project documentation requirements.
6.3.3 Shall perform coordination with the QA/QC Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Supervisor
and Safety Officers for the implementation and compliance with the Safety, Quality
Management System and work standard requirements.
6.4 Safety Officer
6.4.1 All safety measures implemented at the job site for handling, transporting,
installations, dismantling, etc. Hazards and risk assessment shall be prepared and
disseminated to all concern, to minimize the occurrence of untoward incident at
jobsite.
6.4.2 Coordination with project managers, QA/QC engineers, site engineers, foremen,
supervisors, workers, client’s representatives, etc. at job site on health and safety
issues.
6.4.3 Shall conduct the tool box meetings and on the spot inspection on daily activities at
jobsite of all personnel to prevent or minimize hazardous condition, unsafe practices,
etc.
6.4.4 Shall be responsible to implement safety rules and regulations and conduct
disciplinary action to those who has repeatedly made defiance to safety matters.
6.4.5 Shall be responsible for first aid treatment and shall coordinate with nearest hospital,
police and fire department in case of accident or emergency.
6.7.3 Coordination with helpers for joint efforts and use of all available resources and daily
activities for the project.
6.7.4 Shall follow all company rules, guidelines, procedures and policies at project site.
6.7.5 Site coordination works of related equipment with other trades at project job site to
ensure efficient use of resources.
6.7.6 Shall maintain good housekeeping at job site upon completion of work. All scrap
materials, rags, debris, etc., shall be properly disposed.
8.2.6 All documents will be available with the supplied Enclosed Switches & Isolators
materials i.e. transport/shipping documents, packing list, delivery notes, and factory
test certificate.
8.2.7 A material delivery to site will be inspected for delivered materials for approval from
consultant engineer.
8.2.8 Any discrepancies, damage etc., found will be notified and reported for further
action.
8.2.9 Material found not suitable for site use will be removed from site immediately.
8.4.8 Remove sheath of the cable up to gland plate and separate the cores for inserting
the lugs / copper tubes terminals.
8.4.9 Insert the bottom part of the gland into the cable, put the armour ring and terminate
the armour wire into the ring.
8.4.10 Insert the upper part of the cable gland and tighten the upper and the lower part by
spanner.
8.4.11 Cables should be properly identified with approved identification before and after the
entry in the Isolator.
8.4.12 Crimp the cable lugs with proper crimping tool. Connect to terminal as per
requirement.
8.4.13 Terminate wires in the terminal with correct phase sequence and color code.
8.4.14 Connection of cable trays with isolators shall be done rigidly of proper supports.
8.4.15 All knockouts made on the panel covers shall be filled and provided with grommets
to avoid sharp edges. All cable entries shall be closed and sealed in a proper way.
8.4.16 Ensure tightness of terminal as per the manufacturer recommendation.
8.4.17 All isolators shall be provided with proper earthing connections as per approved
shop drawings.
8.4.18 Put the box cover and tighten the screw.
8.4.19 Identification labels of approved type shall be fixed to all isolators.
8.4.20 The IP rating shall be as per the approved material submittal.
8.4.21 Ensure that the installation of support and sunshade does not compromised the
integrity of water proofing on concrete slab
8.4.22 Installation of support and sunshade shall be coordinated with architect and civil
engineer.
8.4.23 Install isolator in the support with sunshade and ensure that bolt and nuts are fixed
properly.
8.4.24 Gland and terminate the incoming and outgoing cable using appropriate wiring
glanding tools.
8.4.25 Measure the distance from the gland plate to the cable termination point and
accordingly remove the outer sheath.
8.4.26 The holes are made for taking the cables inside the Isolator to be properly covered
and sealed after checking of the termination point.
8.4.27 Remove the armour up to the gland plate.
8.4.28 Insert the shroud into the cable.
8.4.29 Remove sheath of the cable up to gland plate and separate the cores for inserting
the lugs / copper tubes terminals.
8.4.30 Insert the bottom part of the gland into the cable, put the armour ring and terminate
the armour wire into the ring.
8.4.31 Insert the upper part of the cable gland and tighten the upper and the lower part by
spanner.
8.4.32 Cables should be properly identified with approved identification before and after the
entry in the Isolator.
8.4.33 Crimp the cable lugs with proper crimping tool. Connect to terminal as per
requirement.
8.4.34 Terminate wires in the terminal with correct phase sequence and color code.
8.4.35 Ensure tightness of terminal as per the manufacturer recommendation.
8.4.36 All isolator shall be provided with proper earthing connection as per the project
specification and approved shop drawing.
8.4.37 Put cover box and tighten the screw.
8.4.38 Identification labels of approved type shall be fixed to all isolator.
9.0 QUALITY
9.1 Inspection And Testing
9.1.1 The Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) for the installation of Enclosed Switches &
Isolators materials layout works summarizes various characteristics to be checked.
The concerned Site Engineer will be responsible to ensure stage wise compliance
for these operations and the QA/QC Engineer will carry out quality control checks
and report the inspection results.
9.1.2 ITP will be submitted along with this method statement.
9.2 Documentation
9.2.1 The Site Inspection Request (IR) of various activities of Enclosed Switches &
Isolators materials layout works will be submitted to RLR in advance with adequate
notice. Consultant Inspection Requests Form shall be followed for all Enclosed
Switches & Isolators materials layout works activities.

9.2.2 Variance work activities will be checked and the QA/QC Engineer will be responsible
for completing Inspection Requests for these activities. Recorded in related
checklists.
