    CAMBRIDGE GLOBAL ENGLISH 7: UNIT 4 PHOTOCOPIABLE ACTIVITIES

    Photocopiable 16: Vocabulary word games


    Aim: Revise new vocabulary from Lessons 4.1–4.2 and 4.4–4.5.
    Preparation time: 5 minutes
    Completion time: 20–30 minutes
    Use of English and vocabulary:
    Lesson 4.1: Transport: ferry, scooter, lorry, van, speedboat, snowmobile
    Lesson 4.2: Transport: canal, sail,
    Lesson 4.4: adjectives to describe a city: bright, elegant, (un) impressive, grand
    Lesson 4.5: Science: evaporation, absorbed, surface, reduce
    Materials: One Word games: Vocabulary sheet per learner.
    Procedure:
     Distribute one word games sheet to each learner.
     Starter idea (optional): Allow groups of 3–4 learners two minutes to remember and note down as
    many words under these four headings (Transport 1: Land, Transport 2: Sea, City adjectives and
    Science words) as they can.
     Follow the instructions on the sheet. While learners do the activities, circulate and give assistance.
     For Activity 3, encourage learners to look through Lesson 4.5 in the Learner’s Book and choose
    interesting words for their word searches.
     At the end of the activity, give feedback on the answers, as well as on common errors with the
    pronunciation of the words.
