Previous Different Macrame and Basketry Products. I
Lesson have here some pictures. All you have to do
is to identify what is the name of the product
each picture shows. You will also give 3
phrases that certain product best describes.

(The students answer may vary).

I believe it is not easy to make.

I believe it is useful in our daily
lives.
I believe I use it a while ago,
I believe it is a basket.

Very good! Let’s give Ana three claps.

(The students clap their hand three
times).
What about this one?

(Roy raised his hand).

Yes Roy, you are recognized.

I believe I used this almost every

day.
I believe its function is to hold my
pants.
I believe I have a collection of that
product at home.
I believe it is a BELT.

Very good! Let’s give Roy three claps. (The students clap their hand three
times).

A. Motivation
Thank you for your participation. Now, let’s
proceed to our new topic this morning!

Let’s have a game. Let’s play Rebus!

But before that, let’s divide the house into
three. I have here a card. You will be going
to pick a card. In the card there are three
shapes. If you pick the shape with a red circle
on it, that will be your group.

(The students pick their card and

go to their designated place).

Kindly settle down. A Rebus is a picture

representation of a name, work, phrase. Each
“rebus” puzzle portrays a common word or
phrase. Can you guess what it is?

Well let’s find out. I will give you two

minutes to think and write here answers.
Yes ma’am!

Time is up! Let’s check your work.

Based on the game that we play what do you

think is our new lesson for today?
I think it has something to do with
tying, knotting and coiling.

B. Presentation Yes, that’s right! Our lesson today has

of the New something to do with that, it’s all about Basic
Lesson Macrame Knots

But before anything else, let us read first our (Students are reading).
objectives. At the end of the lesson, the
students should be able to:
a) identify the different
Macrame knots;
b) describe the different
kinds of macrame knots;
c) select appropriate
Macrame knots; and
d) demonstrate the different
kinds of Macrame knots.
Macrame has been a popular way to decorate,
bringing texture and warmth into a home
with knots that can be put together in unique
ways in order to create one-of-a kind wall
hangings, plant holders, and more.
Look at these pictures.

E. Raising
Motive (Students answers may vary).
Questions • Do you have one of that or any
member of the family?
Yes, ma’am. I used to own that
kind of bracelet. My sister has that
kind of bag too.

• Where we can see that product?

We can see that almost
everywhere. We can see that at
home, in the market, in the school
even in the beach.
• Do you think we can do that for a
project or for a source of income
purpose?

Yes ma’am. I used to make one

last summer and I earned some
money from selling it.
Thank you for your answer. Let’s give three
claps for ourselves.

(The students clap their hands

three times).
F. Lesson Proper
Macrame and basketry products are
wonderful and delightful crafts that are useful
from bags and hanging baskets to purely
decorative objects like jewelry and wall
hangings.
In this pandemic, a lot of people lost their
jobs and a lot of us struggles to meet our daily
need. Because of pandemic, we have travel
restrictions and new work arrangements.
Some people lost most of their livelihood and
some try online business.

Having skills in Macrame can help us in

meeting our daily needs and making a profit.
We can do this at home and we can sell this
product online.
Seeing the potential of this product, do you Yes ma’am.
want to learn how to make this class?

A good variety in texture and design can

result from the arrangement of just a few
knots. Today I will demonstrate and teach
you the Basic Macrame Knots.

Materials needed in Macrame

The following are the materials that will help

you produce macrame knots:

• Cord
• Scissors

To ensure cleanliness and maintain the good

quality of your work, always bear in mind
the following good working habits.

1. Wash or disinfect your hands before

working.
2. Clip or tie your hair while working
so you can see your work clearly.
3. Be careful in using tools with sharp
edges.
4. Work with your hands and not with
your lips.
5. Follow the step-by-step procedure.
6. Clean your working area before
living the room.

Last meeting, I instructed you to bring the

materials. While I’m demonstrating, you will
also follow the steps in making the Macrame
Knots.

Are you ready class? Yes, ma’am.

G. Demonstration OVERHAND KNOT

-The most basic knot in Macrame.

STEPS
1. With the cord horizontal and straight, (The students listen attentively
make a loop by crossing the right end and following the teacher’s
over the left end. Feed the right end procedure).
up through the loop.
2. Pull both ends of the cord to secure
the overhand knot.

LARK’S HEAD KNOT

-One of the simplest and most commonly
used knots. It often the starting point for
many pieces as it is a useful way of attaching
a working cord to a holding cord or ring.

STEPS (The students listen attentively

and following the teacher’s
1. Fold the loop down behind the procedure).
holding cord. Feed the two free ends
of the working cord through the loop
and pull.

2. When all cord has passed through the

loop, pull to set the lark’s head knot.

HALF KNOT
-The Half Knot is the foundation for a range
of other knots, including the Square Knot.

1. Secure two cord to the dowel using (The students listen attentively

over the two cords in the center and procedure).
then under the right working cord.
2. Taking the right cord under the two
cords in the center, make a “D”, up
through the center of the “C”, over the
left cord. Pull on both cords gently to
secure the knot.

SQUARE KNOT
-The Square Knot is one of the most versatile (The students listen attentively
of all the macramé knots and a great one to and following the teacher’s
master early! It is a combination of a Half procedure).
Knot started from the left and a Half Knot
started from the right.

1. Secure four lengths of cord to your

working board. Take the left cord
over the two filler cords in the center
and then under the cord on the right.
This is known as the C- step.

2. Take the right cord under the two

cords in the center, making a “D”, and
then bring the cord up through the
center of the “C”, and over the cord
on the left.

3. Bring the cord now on the right

(shown here as the green cord) over
the center filler cords and under the
cord now on the left (shown here as
the red cord).
4. Bring the left cord under the center
filler cords and then up through the
center of the “D” and over the right
cord.

5. Pull to set the square knot. If you

repeat this knot, you create a square
knot sinnet.
(The students listen attentively
and following the teacher’s
procedure).

Are you following class? Yes ma’am.

D. Application Now, for our activity, you do this together

with your group. Make a collaborative
demonstration and perform the Basic
Macrame knots I have presented earlier. I
will give you 5 minutes to do the task and
please be reminded with our rubrics.

Am I clear class?
Yes ma’am.
