4 COUNT AND NON-COUNT NOUNS


Count nouns name things that can be counted. Non-count nouns name things that cannot
be counted.
Count nouns can take any article (a, an, or the) and can be either singular or plural. Non-count
nouns cannot take an indefinite article (a or an) and cannot be plural. Most abstract nouns (and
many concrete ones) are non-count nouns. See the examples below.

Read each sentence. Then, rewrite the sentence, correcting the use of the non-count noun.

to a partner, who should listen for and name the non-count nouns you used. Then, switch roles with your
