NARRATIVE REPORT
Distance Learning Implementation First Quarter
The Presidents’ directive on, no to face-to-face at the start of the school year
2020-2021, urged the issuance of DepEd Order No.12, s.2020 “Adoption of the
Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan for School Year 2020-2021” in the light
of COVID-19 Public health Emergency.
In light with this, the Department of Education hopes to sustain the dream
of delivering quality,
accessible and liberating basic education for all school-aged children.
With the current situation, where face-to-face learning is far from being real,
Aplaya Elementary School adopted the Printed Modular Distance Learning. It is the
most popular mode of distance learning which anchored with the Most essential
Learning Competencies. It is a set of learning opportunities that is organized
around a well- defined topic which contains the elements of instructions, specific
objectives, teaching-learning activities and evaluation. It is being preferred by many
learners as well as the parents according to the data gathered from the Learner
Enrollment and Survey Form (LESF). It entails the least financial obligation on the
part of the learners and gadgets are not needed to perform certain tasks.
The Kindergarten parents of Aplaya Elementary School were actively
engaging themselves in getting and returning the modules of their children from
October up to present following the safety measures and health protocols. The
learners were constantly monitored by the Kindergarten teachers through text
messaging, phone calls, video calls and chat through Messenger and home
visitation. Feedback and queries from learners and parents were religiously
addressed and noted. Enhancement activities were given to support the learning of
our Kindergarten learners and to bring out the best that they could be holistically.
Indeed, the implementation of the Modular Distance Learning is a big
challenge to all of us that we need to overcome and a new normal of educating our
learners that we need to embrace.
