about us

Dr. Ambedkar International Centre at 15 Janpath, New


Delhi was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister
of India Shri Narendra Modi on 7th December 2017.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister announced that this is a
Centre of Excellence for study, research, analysis and
Policy making in the field of Socio Economic
Transformation and Buddhist studies. The main focus
of the Centre is to reduce Sociopolitical and economic
inequalities by conducting rigorous and authoritative
research.

F.Y. 2020-21

(I) OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE (O&M) OF DAIC & DANM


COMPLEX:

1) The operation and maintenance of Dr. Ambedkar


International Centre (DAIC), 15, Janpath, New Delhi-01 and Dr.
Ambedkar National Memorial (DANM), 26, Alipur Road, Delhi is
don e by NBCC Services Limited and CPWD respectively. Both
the buildings are being maintained upto a desired standard.

(II) DR. AMBEDKAR POST DOCTOERAL AND DOCTORAL


FELLOWSHIP:
1) Dr. Ambedkar Post Doctoral and Doctoral Fellowship: DAIC is
running Dr. Ambedkar Post Doctoral and Doctoral Fellowship
Scheme. The year wise beneficiaries of the scheme are as
following:

(III) RENOVATION and upgradation WORK AT DAIC

DAIC has carried out an ambitious upgradation and renovation of


its facilities to make it truly international standard. The following
has been upgraded:
1. Auditorium with Language Translators.
2. Computer center with 21 work stations.
3. Two Conference Halls with 70 seating capacity.
4. One Conference Hall with 40 seating capacity.
5. Cafeteria with service counter.
6. Chairman Cabin, 3rd Floor, DAIC.
7. Round the clock Security
8. Fire Seperation Sytem
9. bringing safety and security to the completely new level we
have CCTV cameras to ensure safety of the students and
employees and integrity of the property.
10. Visiter management system along with x ray machine has been
installed.
11. Boom Bollards has been installed at two gates.

a. Media Feed for Transgender policies for the Ministry and
Mental Health Care of the Transgender Community during
Covid crisis,
b. Media Feed for PMO on the scholarship for SCs program
initiated by hon. PM Narendra Modi.

divas, Buddh Purnima, Ambedkar Jayanti, Republic Day,

3. Video Production
a. Illustrations and Calligraphy in the Constitution of India,
which incurred an amount of Rs.2.50 Lakhs. - which was
also telecasted on Doordarshan as well.
b. Dr. B R Ambedkar: Ek Mahamanav Ki Mahagatha.
c. Women advocates on Laws That Protect Women and Their
Rights.
d. Journey of Women Documentary Filmmakers in India.
e. View of Women Academicians on Women education in
India.
f. Women Officials on public accounting and their
experiences as women officials from mentorship, gender
related roadblocks and importance of diversity in leadership.

4. IT
a. The IT infrastructure at DAIC was also upgraded. IT
infrastructure, including procurement of PC for scholars and
staff, establishment of IT Centre.
b. Subscription for various software for online conference,
Turnitin software and other equipment were installed at
DAIC an amount of Rs. 40.00 Lakh was incurred during the
year.

Academics, Research and Policy

a. Conferences and Seminars

i. SC, ST Sub-plan, Schemes and Implementation


(National Conference) in April, 2020- With the help of
the scholars a short term research was conducted and
a policy feed was submitted to the ministry.
ii. Programme on the Samrasata Divas- Programme was
held on 14 April 2020 at DAIC and DANM.
iii. One Day National e-Conference on Revisiting Truth,
Morality – Ethics in Buddhism 25 August 2020- Key
Note Address was delivered by Prof. Dharma Dutt
Chaturvedi, Professor and Head of the Department
Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Varanasi.
iv. Entrepreneurship Development in Scheduled Castes
and Schedules Tribes communities- After visiting EDII
and discussion with faculties, DG of EDII Prof. Sunil
Shukla, and the Founder Chairman DICCI Padma Shri
Milind Kamble, a policy feed was prepared and
submitted to the ministry.
v. Globalising Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Thoughts
and Legacy- Key Note address by Ms. Upma Srivastava.
Discussant Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Indian Ambassador
to the US, Manoj Kumar Bharati, Indian Ambassador to
Indonesia.
vi. One-Day e-conference on Gandhi Jayanti- Key Note
address by the renowned writer, director and producer
Shri Subhash Ghai. Special address by Prof. M Jagdesh
Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, JNU.
vii. Conference on the Constitution Day- A grand
programme was held on this occasion on 25 Nov, 2020.
The HMSJE addressed the virtual gathering and
released the documentary.
viii. Programme on the Mahaparinirwan Divas- Programme
was held on 06 Dec. 2020 at DAIC and DANM.
ix. International Womens Day - 4 day conclave was
organised with Eminent women speakers from various
fields to discuss together the contribution of Dr B. R.
Ambedkar on Women Empowerment. the conclave was
recorded into episodic programs available at DAIC
YouTube channel. PAGE 8

b. Lecture Series DAIC despite the pandemic continued its


urge for collation and collection of knowledge. The center
conducted numerous world class lectures and various
programmes were expended on these academic
programmes which largely included the honorarium to
guest lectures were Rs.3.00 Lakhs.

i. Friday Lecture Series- Friday Lecture Series were


organized on various issues throughout the year.
Eminent speakers from across the country
participated in it.
ii. Dr. Ambedkar Lecture Series- Dr. Ambedkar was a
multifaceted genius. As the part of paying gratitude
to his contributions to the nation and to disseminate
the knowledge related to his sacrifices, DAIC
organized this lecture series with eminent scholars
on Dr. Ambedkar.
iii. The Constitution of India- As the part of the project
to bring out various less known features of our
constitution, DAIC organized this series with known
experts on the constitution.
iv. Lecture Series for and by the Scholars- DAIC
encourages its scholars to impart the knowledge
among themselves. In this connection, the post-
doctoral scholars of DAIC delivered lectures as per
their expertise throughout the year. All doctoral and
post-doctoral scholars were asked to join the series.
This series not only proved valuable for the scholars
but it also created a platform for personality
development and furnishing presentation skill.
c. Training Programme
i. As the part of the annual work plan, DAIC organized
an online training programme for the Nodal Officers
of SCs and STs of the Karnataka State. Despite
several restrictions during the ongoing pandemic,
DAIC organized this programme through online
mode. The programme was conducted online from
27-28 June 2020.

DAIC’s academics section completed projects on the following themes-

b. Disseminating Knowledge on Dr. B R Ambedkar (For NBCFDC)

With the help of short term research and analysis by the research

7.DAIC Academic Staff Invited for Lecture
DAIC academic staff was invited by some reputed institutions in the
Country on for delivering lectures. Some of them are, ATI Karnataka,
JNU, DU, MMTC, EDII, etc.

1. Library membership is free for all sections of society. Users may consult
the library and its resources without any barriers. Around 100 users
visited the library daily throughout the years for general reading and
study purposes.
2. Performed accessioning, stamping and all technical work related to
physical preparation of books of acquired recently besides other day
today routine work of library organization and management activities.
3. Increased readership from 36 to 100 students who were appearing for
competitive exams, civil services etc. Several letters had been written to
educational institutions for its popularity and utilization of library
resources.
4. Providing reference and photocopying services to users.
5. Completed the task of leather book binding of available 238 braille
books for future use.
6. Acquired 100 constitutions of various countries of the world with the
support of MHA, Govt of India. During this year the Library has added
only 47 copies of constitutions of other countries.
7. Subscribing 16 Daily National Newspapers and 35 journals and
magazines for users and visitors of library.
8. Started Digital library services for library users subscribing DELNET
World Ebook Library services to access about 40 lakhs books and other
materials.

9. Conducted various meetings of Book Selection Committee of Experts


to finalize the new books for procurement.
10. Organised three days Book Exhibition on 26th, 27th and 29th August,
2019 of all empaneled library vendors/book suppliers of DAIC who
displayed their stock and selection done by the committee at DAIC
premises.
11. More than 2300 titles have been added to the library this year. Thus the
total collection is 8371 till date that incured an amount of INR 83.621 lakh.
Setup Computer work station for PDF scholars in the library for reference
and study.
12. Collaborating with DELNET Database to access their resources
available in the databank/resources.
13. Participating in DELNET Library consortium network.
14. Administering Library automation work (first phase project) using
International renowned Open Source Software KOHA-LMS with RFID
compliance. The project is still continue and yet to be completed by the
library. This will help the users to get the document/information instantly
without wasting the time.
15. Guidance to two PDF scholars as Co-Supervisor of DAIC, New Delhi
16. DAIC continued its enrichment of Library resources and added to the
Physical books and e-resources for Rs.95.00 Lakhs incurred during the
year.
