The passage discusses the different types of gods that exist in this world, including the 7 dominion gods that rule over domains of existence, mysterious outer gods, and numerous lesser gods of more specific spheres.

The 7 domains are Knowledge, Life, Light, Nature, Tempest, Trickery and War. The associated gods are Mystra, Adaghast, B'haal, Melora, Umbra/Lee, Beshaba and Tempus/Bane respectively.

The dominion gods rule over broad domains and interact with the world and mortals more directly, while the outer gods exist outside of time and space and their motivations are incomprehensible to mortals. The outer gods influence is rarely seen.

7 Domain Gods

The prime deities of the 7 domains of existence. They are the absolute essence of the aspects of the slain finite primordial
god, Ba. Though we can grasp their influence, the full breadth of their scope and nature is nigh alien to most mortal
beings, even those of high devotion. Though they do interact with the world, it is rare. The most notable presence of the
gods on the material plane was nearly 35,000 years ago. During this time, many of the gods bore down their wrath on
the material plane, smoldering cities and obliterating whole landmasses. The reason for such destruction has ultimately
been lost to time, as very few accounts remain. The ultimate goals of the dominion gods since the cataclysm is unknown.

Outer Gods
Beings which exist outside the realm of time and space, beyond the veil of creation, within the void of
reality. Unlike the dominion gods, the outer gods are of incomprehensible influence and desire, even their
most basic ideas and principles are removed from the material mind. They exist solely because they do,
and their motivation is beyond the scope of mortal understanding. Their relationship with other gods and
the means of their emergence is unknown. Rarely their influence has been spotted moving within the
material plane, but only in the form of avatars or whispers. How many drift among the beyond is
unknown. Some believe there are nigh infinite beings, while others believe it is but one supreme being in
different forms. Their names, visage, and wants are the result of shambling attempts to decipher reason
and avoid madness among the simple-minded creatures who dare look where they should not.

Ascribed Name Influence/Sphere

Accismus Known to seek old knowledge with an interest in
mortal meddling.
Breathing Hektor Known to wander the deepest places of Perch,
breathing in the stones and heat of creation.
Akkadius All Depth Known to drink from the pockets of the deepest
seas, forever drifting down.
Black Union (Ereshkigal/Nergal) Known to whisper in the ears of Ba, revealing
secrets to the dead.
Lesser Gods
Among the vast stretches of Perch there exist many gods of lesser spheres of influence. These beings
often hold dominion over specific locations, events, beings, or objects. Their power varies wildly, some
being nearly as powerful as those of the dominion gods, while others being described as marginally more
powerful than an experienced adventurer. The matter of how many is undeterminable, as they come into
existence as often as they cease to exist. The cause of their existence may range from intentional
creation, the casting down of a once greater god, or they simply begin existing for reason even they may
not comprehend. The nature and desires of these gods are much more understandable by material
minds, some even having mortal-like relationships. All that to say, do not underestimate the power of a
demigod, as even the least among them reigns supreme over the average mortal.
