    Charles: Good morning, everyone! We’re your host for today. I am Charles
    Maia: And I am Maia
    Charles: And welcome to……The Sineskwela Talk Show
    Maia: For today’s talk, we invited 3 honorable guests to share their thoughts,
    knowledge and ideas about Academic Writing.
    Maia: Oh and this are not just your ordinary guests. These guys are actually
    amazing individuals from various prestigious universities. I repeat prestigious
    universities.
    Charles: That’s right! And for our first guest, she is associate professor of African
    and American studies and of English and American Literature and Language at
    Harvard University. Ladies and gentlemen please help me welcome. Ms. Stevy
    Mae Pondon.
    Stevy: (walks in and paso-paso around then stand in front sa iyang seat).
    Maia: Up next, we have a professor of English and British Literature, Literary
    criticism, and Philosophy from Oxford University. Ladies and gentlemen please
    help me welcome, Ms. Kate Cobol
    Kate: (Paso paso then go to seat remain standing)
    Charles: And last but not the least, he is an English lecturer known for his amazing
    fluency and his handsomeness. It is said that a glance from this person makes
    your heart flutter in excitement. Ladies and gentlemen please help me welcome,
    Mr. Wesley Abadiano!!! (actually john pero as a joke rani xD)
    Wesley (John): Paso paso in a cool way nga murag pabibong gwapo*
    Maia: Let’s take our seats everyone!
    Maia: First of all guys, thanks for coming all the way here, I’m sure you guys are
    tired from your travel. Your presence is much appreciated by everyone and It is a
    pleasure to be working with you.
    Stevy, Kate, og John: (magpasalamat)
    Maia: Now, to start things of how did English for Academic and Professional
    Purposes benefit a person?
    Kate: Proficiency in English allows a person to explore rich and varied types of
    literature.
    Stevy: Yes, and it also allows us to improve our communication skills and
    confidence while speaking or writing whether academic, creative or others.
    Maia: What are your thoughts in this Mr. Wesley?
    Wesley (John): Yes.
    Charles: Now the reason why we called you guys here is actually because the
    public wants to know more about Academic Writing. Can you guys share us your
    knowledge about academic writing?
    Stevy: Academic writing is a clear, concise, focus, structured and backed up by
    evidence.
    Kate: I agree, and it also has a formal tonal style, but it is not that complex and
    does not require the use of long sentences and complicated vocabulary.
    Charles: I see, how about you sir Wesley?
    Wesley (John): Ughhh, Yes.
    Charles: Okay since Mr. Wesley has been awfully quiet, we’re gonna ask him some
    extra questions. But before that, let’s first watch an advertisement from today’s
    sponsor, unipac sardines.
    (INSERT ADVERTISEMENT)

    Maia: And so we are back again guys, for Mr. Wesley’s Q & A potion.
    Maia: So Mr. Wesley, what are the things that we must consider when writing
    literature that is academic in nature.
    Wesley (John): One must focus on the topic, plan ahead, structure the thoughts in
    an organized way, and be formal in tone and style.
    Charles: Wow, impressive. Now for the last question, what must you avoid in
    academic writing?
    Wesley (John): Avoid unnecessary jargons, exaggerations, subjective reasoning,
    and using foul and informal languages such as (mga bad words).
    Charles: Wow impressive, I’m sorry for doubting your abilities sir you really are
    errr handsome. Thank you, so much dear guests, for showing up in this talk show.
