Metta Sutra
is at peace. May I be disciplined and sincere, without pride, easily contented, and joyous. May I not lose myself in meaningless worldly pursuits or in the pursuit of money. May I be wise but not arrogant. May I do nothing that is mean or unwise. May all beings be happy. May they be joyous and live in safety. All living beings, weak or strong, small or great, visible or invisible, near or far, born or to be born, may they all be happy. May I not deceive anyone, nor hate any being. May I not be angry at anyone, hate anyone or wish harm upon anyone. Even as a parent, at the risk of his own life, watches over and protects his only child, so with a boundless heart may I cherish all living things, spreading love over the entire world, in all directions, without limit. May I cultivate infinite good will toward the whole world, standing or walking, sitting or lying down, whatever I am doing. During all my waking hours, May I practice the way with gratitude. Not holding to fixed views, Endowed with insight, Not overcome by my sensual desires, my desire for comfort, or laziness. And then, I will be free.
