and concluding statement.
C. Social Function
Explanation text is to explain to the

A. Definition
Discussion text is defined as a text
to present a problematic discourse.
The problem will be discussed from
different viewpoint.
B. Generic Structure
Discussion text consists of three
main parts. There are:
1. General statemment
2. A series of paragraphs
3. A concluding paragraph
C. Social Function
Discussion text in intended by the
writer/speaker to present to points
of view about issue or problem.
D. Language Features
Discussion text has its
characteristics, especially in terms
of grammar, vocabulary, and
expressions. The discussion text
are use of the simple present
tense, medium of high degrees of
modality, quoted and reported
speech, passive voice, complex
combination of clauses, and
complex sentences.
