The C1-455-Dx yy is a Compact Motion Controller that can be connected in MODBUS networks,
either as a Master or a Slave, with no addition of options thus allowing to realize very powerful
and economic decentralized automation systems.
Main features
- Real Time Multitasking QMOS operating system designed to manage the hardware resources
through firmware devices operating at defined sampling periods;
- The available devices provide the programmer with solutions to be used in the development
of application for industrial automation such as positionings, count comparisons, axis
synchronism, communications, etc.;
- Execution of the application programs in cyclic tasks, at period and in interruption;

Protection through fuse ....................................... 3 A
The power supply circuit is protected from over-power supplies with fuse (3A - 250V ultra rapid
5 x 20 glass).
The ground terminal (terminal 2) is the ground terminal of the power supply filter. Therefore,
the ground must also be connected on the faston located on the side of the container.

PE
Transformers with CE mark are to be used to supply only the device in question; the secondary
winding MUST NOT be connected to ground (example of secondary windings NOT suitable: 0 - 24
with 0 at ground...).
In case of very fluctuating power supply lines (with variations greater than 15%), saturated iron
stabilizing transformers with appropriate dimension must be used.
Do not use auto-transformers because this solution does not assure the galvanic separation
between the primary winding and the secondary winding.
Do not use transformers with central socket connected to ground. Furthermore, for the power
supply of QEM products, the use of auto-transformers, even those followed by transformers,
must be avoided.
Separate the power supply of the electronic circuits from the power supply of contactors, solenoid
valves, etc. Connecting the power supply of the common device to that used for loads such as
contactors, brakes etc., can cause problems because, when they are excited, voltage drop and
noises may occur.
Verify that the transformer power is enough to supply the circuits and that the transformer
being used actually supplies all the rating power, with no voltage drop.
Note: For further information, please consult QEMs pubblication Installation Manual MIMAT801
and Instructions for wiring execution.

Err. Signals an error. The number of blinks indicates the type of error:
1 blink = Bus Error: indicates that the bus is not configured according to description
of the application
2 blinks = CheckSum Error: indicates that the internal board data has been altered.
To restart the board, follow the Application reset procedure or Application restore
procedure.
3 blinks = Index Out of Bound: the index of an array has tried to access a non-existing
stop.
4 blinks = Program Over Range: the program selection index which is inside the
DATAGROUP has tried to access a non-existing stop.
5 blinks = Step Over Range: the step selection index which is inside the DATAGROUP
has tried access a non-existing stop.
6 blinks = Division By Zero: the denominator of a division has zero value.
7 blinks = Syntax Error: the application language has found an invalid instruction
8 blinks = WatchDog Error: an intelligent board on bus does not operate correctly
9 blinks = Stack Error: the language has detected an instruction of subroutine jump
which is not allowed.
Halt The CPU manages the possible abnormal situations that may cause system
malfunctioning. Such situations are intercepted by the firmware that lights up this
LED and interrupts all operations. The boards on the bus are disabled. Once the system
has been re-started, the board will operate normally, and the LED will continue blinking
until the Halt signalling Reset procedure is performed.
Func This LED indicates the CPU is in a particular state of function execution wait (refer to
Use of rear keys for further information).
Boot If this LED is lit, it indicates that, when the device is switched on, no operating system
used for board operation has been detected.
Batt This LED indicates that the internal backup battery must be replaced. However, the
board continues operating. Caution: once the battery is completely exhausted, the
CPU cannot maintain the memorized data and, when the device is switched on, the
CheckSum Error state will appear.
Battery substitution
Before proceeding with the substitution verify that the new battery is:
- charged (used suitable measure tool);
- compatible.
For more safety do a backup copy of data stored in the RAM memory with the procedure Project
> Backup or with the procedure Project > Savedata from Qview.
The battery substitution can be done with instrument feeded or not.
Take away the cover of the battery space;
substitute the battery being sure to respect the polarities signaled in the battery space (do this
operation within 15 sec if the tool are not supply)
Place the cover of the battery space;
If after the substitution of the battery the BATT led will be turned on or flashing we advise to
contact your furnisher.
In case the BATT led turns off, but the ERR led is flashing to indicate Error Checksum, you need
to restore the data saved through the procedure Project > Restore or Project > Realldata from
Qview 5.
If its done a Project > Backup its possible to do a Restore without the necessity of a PC
(System functions).
Func Allows to select the available procedures and selections if an operator terminal
or a PC are not available.
Boot Allows to confirm the procedure or the selection performed using the FUNC
key. Further operations are performed by QEM only.
Reset CPU reset. The system is restarted by resetting the initial conditions (as it is
performed after a starting operation).
The Run, Reset, Stop and Restart signallings represent serial commands that are normally sent
from the development environment. Application download represents the procedure that allows
to transfer the user application to the CPU.
Reset
! In this state, the This state is signalled when the POW LED is on and the the RUN LED is off as a consequence of
operating system only
lack of application in memory.
processes the serial requests
on the PROG port. The conditions that can lead the CPU in the Reset state are the following:
When the device is switched on, there is no application in the memory
When the device is switched on, a checksum calculation error occurs (in this case, the ERROR
LED blinks)
RESET serial command
Exceptional event (in this case, the HALT LED blinks)
It is possible to shift only to a READY state from a RESET state by executing one of the
following operations.
RESTORE application command (from serial application or with FUNC key procedure).
Application download
Application reset procedure execution through FUNC key.
Ready
It is signalled when the POW LED is on and the RUN LED blinks.
The board has a valid application internally and is ready to execute it.
The CPU will be in READY state as a result of the following conditions:
Application RESTORE command by serial function or with FUNC key procedure.
Application download
From this condition, it is possible to operate in the RUN or RESET states.
RUN
It is signalled when the POW and RUN LEDs are on.
The board is executing the application.
The CPU will be in RUN state as a result of the following conditions:
When the device is switched on, there is a memory application
Serial RUN control.
From this condition, it is possible to operate in all the other states of the CPU.
Backup
The backup is a command that allows to create a security copy of all data that can be modified,
recording it inside the flash memory. This operation can reset all parameters existing at a defined
time. Since the values are copied in the flash memory, the memory device assures maximum
security.
Conditions that allow the execution of the backup command are the following:
- CPU in READY state
- Application that does not use RAM for a value higher than the backup limit (refer to chapter
Electrical specifications.
Restore
The restore command allows to restore all the application values with those present at the
backup.
The backup content is cancelled during the download procedure only if the application has
different checksum configuration or symbol checksum.
The backup command execution can be obtained by the following conditions:
- A backup must have been made previously
- CPU in READY or ERROR state

BUS declaration
In the configuration unit, the BUS declaration must be structured as follows:
BUS
1 1455D xx (XX = firmware vesion, exemple: 01)
2 1ES1B 00
3 1EA1B 00
4 1EB1B 00
System requirements
For the device to operate, libraries S1-LIB 4001 (or higher) must be used.
Axis expansions
The MX4-Bx optional expansion board allows to expand the number of C1-455-Dx axes.
The expansion provides from 2 to 4 axes in addition to the 2 axes that can already be managed
by the C1-455-Dx. This board also allows to have 10 additional digital inputs and 2 additional
analog inputs.
