components include the driver, vehicle, structure and the interaction between them. Emphasis is
paid particularly to the design, construction, operation, safety and maintenance of the highway
system.
• Understand the interaction between highway users and the road network
• Understand the basic modelling concepts used to analyze flexible and rigid pavements
• Design flexible and rigid pavements
• Understand pavement management concepts to better manage road pavement
• Design highway appurtenance and highway drainage
• Apply the various types of highway appurtenance to enhance the safety of motorists
