Prof. Limei Tian

Department of Biomedical Engineering,
3006 TAMU, 600 Discovery Dr.
College Station, TX 77843, USA

Dear Dr. Tian,

I have more than seven years of experience in the synthesis of advanced materials with
a demonstrated ability of independent research and publication. My research
experience and training goal match the job posted on behalf of your research group on
the Texas A&M University (TAMU) website for a Postdoctoral Researcher.

During my doctoral and postdoctoral training, I worked in a number of projects which

involved synthesizing nanostructured materials including metal-organic frameworks,
metal-oxide nanoparticles, covalent organic frameworks, ordered meso- and micro-
porous carbons and zeolites. I have independently identified most of the research
problems associated with those projects and designed experimentation with the
available resources to answer the questions. I have published the data from those
projects as peer-reviewed articles in various international journals including ACS
Applied Materials and Interfaces, Applied Catalysis B Environments. The total number
of my publications is ~30 (with ~1800 citations) with x manuscripts under review and y
manuscripts under preparations. Over the year, I developed skills in research and
writing and grew my passion for research. I am an advocate of popularizing science
education among young adults and have written 4 books related to science and edited
another 4 books in my native language.

I came across a number of your recent publications involving blah blah blah. I have
noticed your lab is equipped with …… instrumentations and expertise in ….
Methodology. I have experienced with these these insturmentations and I am eager to
learn to use ….. methods and ….. instruments. Additionally, I found TAMU is a world-
renowned institute with extraordinary researchers from diverse backgrounds and
multidisciplinary origins.

My long-term career goal is to become an independent principal investigator in a

research institute or in a research university. Before joining as a PI, I am interested to
expand my research training in [his research area] field by working in a laboratory with
the state-of-art facilities. I believe your research interest perfectly matches with my
research interest and career goal. Working in your laboratory will provide me the
opportunity of designing and synthesizing advanced materials with the potential of
immediate applications (in medicine, energy, food products, structural materials, green
technology, etc). I am very excited with the possibility of working in your laboratory.

I believe your lab will be a perfect place to obtain my intended training while I can
contribute in your laboratory with my research and other transferable skills. I included
my CV with the application package and would be more than happy to provide any other
documents requested. I hope you will find my track record of research and publication
and I will look forward to discussing the opportunity with you over a video call.

Sincerely,

Imteaz Ahmed
