ANSWER

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI

(SHRI PRAHLAD SINGH PATEL)

(a) to (c) Drinking water is a State subject. It is the States, who plan, design, approve and
implement drinking water supply schemes. Government of India supplements the efforts of the
States by providing technical and financial assistance.
The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) – Har Ghar Jal, is being implemented as per schedule, in
partnership with States, with the target of providing potable tap water supply to every rural
household of the country by 2024.
On 15th August, 2019, at the time of announcement of Jal Jeevan Mission, 3.23 Crore households
were reported to have tap water connections. Since then, additional 6.62 Crore rural households
have been provided with tap water connections. Thus, till date, out of 19.14 Crore rural
households in the country, 9.88 Crore (51.61%) households have provision of tap water supply
in their homes. Similarly, in Andhra Pradesh, on launch of JJM, 30.74 Lakhs rural households
were having tap water connection. Since then, additional 26.79 Lakhs rural households have
been provided tap water connection in the State. As on 25th July 2022, out of 95.69 Lakh rural
households in the State, 57.61 Lakh (60.20%) households have provision of tap water supply in
their homes. The district/ village-wise status as well as progress in making provision of tap water
supply to rural households, as reported by States/ UTs, including those in Andhra Pradesh, is
available on JJM dashboard, which is in public domain at:
