3. How can I know if my school is part of the preferred universities for STEM Scholarship of Excellence?

5. When is the last day of application for the STEM Scholarship for Excellence?
The last day for application is on July 29, 2022 (Friday).
6. Can those with failed grades in college / high school still apply?
No, all applicants must have no failed, dropped, or incomplete subject/s for the entirety of their college/high
school years.
9. What are the requirements needed to apply for STEM Scholarship for Excellence?
o Certified True Copy of Grades or Transcript of records
o Batch Ranking Certificate
o Good Moral Certificate
o Proof of annual household income (e.g., pay slip, ITR, certificate of indigence)
o Proof of enrollment/Letter of Intent to Enroll
o Applicant Portfolio
Yes, a portfolio is required as part of the GBF-GG STEM SFE application process. The portfolio must exhibit the
applicant's extra-curricular activities and community involvement. These can come in the form of photos,
certificates, and other proof of the applicant's engagement in such activities.

The portfolio must be submitted in PDF format and must be uploaded together with the other documentary

11. For incoming freshmen, can I submit my report cards from Grade 12 instead of the true copy of grades?
Yes, you may submit your report cards signed by your registrar should your transcript of records be unavailable.
12. For Senior High School graduates, do I submit batch ranking from the whole high school batch or just my
ranking from among the SHS strand?
Senior High School graduates shall submit their batch ranking among their strand batch.
13. Can I submit batch ranking from my college course batch (ex: Mechanical Engineering course batch as against
all Engineering courses)?
Yes, the requirement of the scholarship is course batch ranking.
14. Can I still apply even if my course is not part of the priority course list?
Yes, you may still apply, however, applicants whose courses are not on the list may not be prioritized.
15. Can I still apply even if my university is not part of the preferred list of universities?
Yes, you may still apply even if your school is not a part of the preferred list of universities. Application may be
considered but not prioritized.
16. Can I apply if I already have an existing scholarship from another institution or company (ex: DOST)?
Applicants who are already DOST scholars are not eligible to apply. For applicants with other scholarships, the
application is subject to evaluation. During deliberations, qualified candidates who do not have any other
scholarships are usually prioritized.

18. What are the benefits and coverage of STEM Scholarship for Excellence?
o Fixed annual financial grant to subsidize tuition and other fees (Subject to terms and conditions of
scholarship agreement)
o Access to scholar development programs
o Internship opportunity in the Gokongwei Group
o Employment opportunity in the Gokongwei Group (Subject to company vacancy and passing of all pre-
employment requirements)
19. Can the scholar use the grant amount for expenses other than the school tuition?
Yes, the scholars may use the grant amount for any education-related expense. This may include books, school
projects, food, transportation, and dormitory expenses.
23. If I did not meet the retention requirements or if I committed misconduct in school, will my scholarship be
terminated? Do I need to pay for the grants I already received?
The scholarship will be terminated once a scholar does not meet the retention requirements or if misconduct is
committed. However, reimbursement of the grant is not required.
26. If the school cannot issue a Transcript of Records or Form 137, can I submit my report card or Form 138
instead?
Yes, but the applicant must also send a letter stating why the transcript of records or form 137 is not available
and a commitment to submit it as soon as it becomes available.
28. Is it necessary to reapply after every academic year to renew the scholarship?
Once accepted in the scholarship, there is no need to renew or reapply.
29. Can those who fall out of the program because of academic deficiencies reapply?
No, those who fall out of the program may no longer reapply.
30. Are there any required Return of Service / Bond for scholars who get accepted into STEM Scholarship for
Excellence?
Yes, scholars shall be required to work for the Gokongwei Group Inc. One year for every year the scholar has
been a recipient of the scholarship grant (maximum 2 years except for BS Pharmacy with a maximum of 4 years
requirement).
