PROPOSED POLICY FOR STUDENTS

In line with the Deped Vision and Mission, Dapitan City National High
School
aims to provide a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating
environment. Hence, every student must abide to the school’s policy set below.

1. Student’s Proper Dress Code


- Wearing of uniform is highly encouraged.
- No bare feet or slippers allowed.
- Skirts and dresses should be below the knee.
- No tank tops, crop tops, razorback, see-through blouses/shirts, spaghetti
strap tops (camisoles) or showing underclothes allowed.
- Tattered jeans should not be worn.
- Cleavage must be fully covered.
- No tight form fitting jeans, leggings or jeggings.

2. Wearing of Student ID
- Identification (ID) cards shall be provided to students at no cost.
- Students shall wear their identification cards inside the school premises all
the time.

3. Proper Grooming
- School uniform should be worn neatly.
- Excessive use of jewelleries and heavy makeup, coloured nail varnish are
discouraged.
- Hair colour should be in natural colour. Hair must be tidy and the style not
extreme fancy hair styling, tinting, dyeing, highlighting and bleaching of hair
are strictly not allowed for all students.
- Body piercing is highly discouraged. (Except for ear piercing in females)
- Male students must clean-shaven at all times.

4. When Leaving the Classroom/Campus


- Students are required to carry a “pass” when leaving the classroom.
- Passes are to be properly filled out by the adviser.
- No students are allowed to leave except if they feel sick or emergency purpose.
If they are sick, the nurse’s station should be made available for students who are
too ill to attend class from which a “pass” from the classroom teacher must be
obtained before going to the nurse’s station. If a student is too ill to remain in
school, a parent/guardian shall be contacted and expected to pick the student.

5. Punctuality and Tardiness. Students are required to attend school and classes on
time each day. Punctuality is a measure of responsibility and it is important that
all students must learn the value of being punctual.
- Students are considered to be tardy if they are not in their classroom during
the start of the first period.
- Tardiness will be excused only for health reasons, family emergencies and
justifiable personal reasons.
- If student is observed to incur habitual tardiness, adviser should call the
attention of students, together with the parent/guardian and agreements
should be made between the parties.

6. Attendance and Absences


- Daily attendance is essential and is expected from all students.
- All students are expected to be in class during the entire class hours, unless
they have verifiable permission to be out of class.
- An absence can be excused if there is a valid reason stated in the excuse letter.
When a student returns to school from an absence, he/she must bring an
excuse letter signed by a parent or guardian stating the specific reason(s) for
the absence. Parents/Guardians should inform beforehand their child’s
absence through text.
- Students have to make up or accomplish the works/tasks he/she missed out
within a reasonable time limit agreed upon by student and teacher.
- Absences of students should not exceed the allowed 20% of the total number
of school days in a year.

7. The use of Cellular Phones and other electronic devices


- Cell phones should be in silent mode
- Cell Phones and other electronic devices are not allowed during class time
unless specifically directed to be used by the teacher.

8. Cheating/Dishonesty/Stealing
- Unauthorized use of information, materials, devices, sources or practices in
completing academic activities like copying during exam and
- Selling stolen goods in school are prohibited.

9. Loitering
- Students must refrain from loitering, making noise in hallways, corridors,
classroom, libraries, laboratories and other places in the campus and
- Staying at restricted places in the school premises.

10. Assaulting a teacher, or any other school authority or his agents, or student/s
- Any act of violence against anyone in school is strictly prohibited and will be
dealt with accordingly.

11. Smoking and Using E-cigarettes
Smoking inside the school premises and bringing tobacco products, vapes,
and the likes are strictly prohibited.

12. Drinking Intoxicants or Liquor


Drinking intoxicants and liquor or entering the school premises under the
influence of liquor, or bringing of alcoholic beverages is not allowed.

13. Using Prohibited Drugs


Drug dependency or drug use, possession, and sale of prohibited drugs such
as marijuana, ecstasy, shabu, etc. (it shall be subject to the Guidelines
prescribed by DO 40 s. 2012 entitled Guidelines for the Conduct of Random
Drug Testing in Public and Private Secondary Schools, and RA 9165 and its
IRR)

14. Forging or tampering with school records or transfer forms


- Forging signatures especially of teachers and other school authorities,
tampering of school ID such as placing stickers and other objects on school ID
and other school records or transfer forms are not allowed

15. Vandalism
Vandalizing/defacing school property, papering, spray-painting is strictly
prohibited and not permitted inside the school campus and its vicinity.

16. Carrying and Concealing of Deadly Weapons or Instrument


Carrying, bringing, using or possessing any firearm, dangerous device,
deadly weapons inside the school campus and its vicinity is strictly
prohibited.

17. Instigating, leading or participating in concerned activities leading to stoppage


of classes,
- Preventing, threatening learners or faculty members or school authorities
from discharging their duties or from attending classes or entering school
premises or
- Displaying unruly behaviour inside the classroom or school premises, during
assemblies, school activities, such acts are not allowed

18. Gambling and Extortion


- Students should not engage in gambling of any sort and extortion or
asking money or in kind from others inside the school premises

19. Organizing or Joining Fraternities, Sororities and Gangs

- Students are not allowed to organize or join fraternities, sororities and
gangs or involve in hazing in any form or manner whether inside or
outside the school premises

20. Bullying
- Students shall not allow to intimidate, harass, or bully another student
through words or actions. Such behaviour includes: direct physical
contact, verbal assaults and isolation or manipulation.

21. Cyberbullying
- Students shall refrain from sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful,
false, or mean content about anyone in school that may cause
embarrassment or humiliation.

22. Bringing, Using or Selling Pornographic Materials


- Students are prohibited from bringing, sharing, using or selling
pornographic materials or contents that represent sexual behaviour either
in books, pictures, statues, films and other media.

23. Motor Vehicles


- Students can enter and park inside the school campus with a current
driver's license, certificate of registration, and an updated official receipt.

24. Observe the “BRING YOUR GARBAGE HOME POLICY”


- Cleanliness and orderliness inside the school should be observed.
 Students must put their food wrappers, scratch papers, etc. in their bags or
pockets and throw them in the trash bins at home.
 Proper segregations of waste must be observed.

25. Bring SNACKS and LUNCH in School


- Students should bring their own food for snacks and lunch in school since
school canteen is not in operation yet and they will not be allowed to be
buy food outside the school campus.
- Students shall bring tumblers for water refill.

Any infractions or violations of the school policy will be dealt with


accordingly.
