The General Santos City Maritime Police Station, (Gensan Marpsta) is presently
based at Fishport Complex, Barangay Tambler, General Santos City under Regional
Maritime Unit 12, Maritime Group (MG). As one of the National Operational Support Unit
of the Philippine National Police (PNP) mandated to perform all police function and
ensure public safety and internal security over territorial waters and rivers including port
of entry and exit and sustain the protection of the maritime environment within General
Santos City and Municipalities of Maasim, Kiamba and Maitum (MAKIMA) as our AOR.
In line with the intention of the General Santos City Maritime Police Station to
safeguard and apprehend illegal activities within its area of responsibility however is
facing a problem from their present office due to the absence of own lot/land for
permanent office. This problem was coupled with the implementation to rent by
Philippine Fisheries Development Authority to all government offices located inside the
port and the amount of fifteen pesos (Php 15.00) to be collected per square meter. The
station is presently occupying more or less 1000 square meters wherein it is an
additional burden to the limited resources of this station.
In this regard, we are knocking at your compassionate heart and request for a
lot/land for the establishment of our office and boat shelter for our high speed tactical
water crafts and rubber boat.
We look forward for your favorable approval on this matter and rest assured that
the General Santos City Maritime Police Station will support in the maintenance of
peace and order and provide a secured maritime environment in our area of
responsibility (AOR).
