Evaluate the hazards associated with the designation of a landing zone and interface with helicopters
Ensure that those providing medical care to patients are taking proper infectious control procedures
Ensure that a decontamination zone is provided if indicated
Monitor firefighters for signs of physical / psychological stress
Ensure that the Incident Commander establishes incident scene rehabilitation
Upon notification of a member injury, illness, or exposure, immediately communicate this to the Incident
Commander and ensure that an emergency medical card is provided
For long-term operations, ensure that food, hygiene facilities, and any other special needs are provided for members
Ensure that incident stress management is established as needed
Initiate accident investigation if indicated
Prepare a written report of the post-incident analysis that includes pertinent information about the incident relating
to health and safety issues.

potential hazards and should not be mistaken for a complete list. The Incident Safety Officer must be trained and qualified to
recognize other potential hazards and utilize good judgement and common sense.
