NARRATIVE REPORT

At around 8:40 am, the BTVTED Extension Team arrived at Bucto

National High School. One of the teams had already arrived at exactly 8:00
a.m. The Day 2 Training Program started with the singing of the National
Anthem, a Prayer, and a few important announcements before proceeding to
the proper discussions. Ana Marie L. Borja, the emcee, gives a summary of the
Day 1 training to go over the activities and lessons from yesterday. The activity
"Sama Sama sa Electrical Technology Installation and Maintenance Training"
was attended and facilitated by 1 faculty member, 2 staff members, and 2
students from BTVTED. A total of 28 students attended; 17 were present on
Day 1, and 16 students were able to attend and continue their training while
12 new participants were added for the second day of training. Those students
who are not able to attend the Day 1 training program are advised to proceed
to another classroom to have their catch-up class and training before
proceeding to the actual performance. There are 16 students who are facilitated
by the staff and BTVTEd students in the industrial building and 12 students in
the other room, which was facilitated by Sir Virgilio T. Ombao Jr.

Sir Bejie Salazar and Sir Ivan Magno discussed the electrical diagrams,
focusing on the necessary electrical materials and components, electrical
symbols, and the ideal voltage of the components. The students are given two
group tasks: electrical open-wiring and concealed wiring. The electrical
diagram for each task was extensively discussed with the students for them to
perform the hands-on installation in the afternoon. The presenters explained
their assigned topic to the students by drawing a diagram on the board and
using the EIM trainer as a teaching aid. In order to impart knowledge that was
easier for the students to understand and comprehend, the presenters
communicated to the students using their own mother tongue language. Sir
Ivan talked about the electrical diagrams, which indicate one lamp controlled
in two locations and two lamps controlled by two gang plates. All of the
students are listening attentively to the speakers and are interested in learning
about the electrical diagrams. On Day 1, the electrical safety tips were already
discussed by one of the speakers and were reviewed again. After reviewing the
electrical safety and precautionary measures, the students proceeded to the
actual performance of the installation by group. For their own safety, the
students are required to wear their closed shoes during the installation

procedure. For the actual performance, the 16 students are divided into five
groups. Three people make up each group, and one of the groups consists of
four. The first four groups were assigned first to do the actual hands-on
installation because there are only four EIM trainers. For the installation
process, there are observers to monitor the situation for every group. For the
students’ safety and protection, the observer watched how the wires were cut
and connected. Students are also reminded to wear their safety gear. Tools are
also provided to the students for the task. Sir Ivan repeatedly reminded the
students to cut the wires cautiously, and he also lectured about how to
connect the wires correctly so that the switches, outlets, and lamps will operate
and function. On the other hand, Sir Benjie accompanied the first and second
groups, and the two groups were able to perform the installation of one lamp
controlled by two gang plates.

In the other building, Sir Virgilio discussed the basics of Multitester and
how to use it. He also went over how to use an analog multitester to measure
voltage and resistance. Using a multitester to determine whether the outlets
are functional is one alternative way to know if they are still functioning. The
students are also given the opportunity to perform measurements, choose
range multipliers in measuring the voltage and resistance, and conduct
continuity testing on extension wires and other devices. Students were given a
visual presentation of the analog multitester parts through a Multitester Board.
So far, students are able to understand the discussion and are ready for the
next activity. Students who didn’t attend the Day 1 program are required to
complete the catch-up training first and will proceed to the hands-on
installation in the afternoon. After 2 hours of discussion and the actual
installation, students are given a 30-minute snack break. There was an
unexpected electricity disruption, and all the outlets are not functioning. The
installation has been stopped for awhile. Yet the electricity came back after a
few minutes. The second group proceeds to check the continuity of the outlets
using an analog multitester. After that, they turn on their lamps, and they are
able to turn on the lamps without any electric faults. With the help of Sir
Benjie Salazar, the students successfully completed the two tasks that were
given to them. BNHS students feel excited as they are able to turn on the
lamps. Some groups are not able to finish the installation in the morning and
are advised to continue in the afternoon. The other students in the other
building are finished with learning the Multitester.

At 1:00pm, Sir Benjie started discussing the electrical diagrams for 2

lamps controlled by 2 gang plates and 1 lamp controlled in 2 locations. The

new students were learning some of the important discussions on Day 1 for
them to be able to proceed to installation while the other students continued
their installation at the Industrial Building. Students are tasked with installing
it by following the electrical diagrams. So far, all of the groups have been able
to successfully complete the given task. They are very focused and determined
to finish the task of turning on the lamps. After the installation, the students
will then proceed to the oral assessment test. The facilitators assessed the
students individually on identifying electrical symbols, performing an actual
demo of using Multitester, checking the continuity test of the wire, checking
the continuity of the extension wire, and testing the battery. Most of the
students got stars during the individual oral assessment, which means that
they performed excellently during the assessment test. The facilitators
announced that since some of the groups are not done yet with their
installation, they will continue it tomorrow. Before the activity commenced, the
emcee and the BTVTEd Program Head had a few announcements to make to
the students. The activity ended at exactly 4:00 pm.
