    What does a capacity plan show? What does it


    contain?
    A Capacity plan will familiarize a seafarer with the
    following information:
    – Deadweight scale.
    – Load lines & Plimsoll mark.
    – International tonnage: G.T. / N.T.
    – Freeboard table.
    – Side elevation, plan view & mid-ship
    section of ship.
    – Location of various tanks, stores etc.
    – Ship’s particulars
    – Capacities / Center of Gravities (Vertical
    and Longitudinal) of various cargo
    compartments, ballast tanks, F.W. tanks,
    F.O. tanks, D.O. tanks, Cooling water
    tanks, L.O. tanks, and other miscellaneous
    tanks.
    A copy of the Capacity plan is always displayed in
    a conspicuous location, near the ship’s office or
    cargo control room.
