Good afternoon to all of you, is nice to meet you!! Well, well, let me
present myself. My name is Valeria, I’m 16 years old and I’m from
the UK. Today I’ll tell you a few traditions and things we do in the
UK on Christmas day!! Okay, let me start. Christmas in the UK
officially begins on November 15th!! You can hear people singing
Christmas carols all around the streets!! Another typical thing in here
are the decorations, people love to decorate their houses to make
them look Christmassy, they spend a lot of time decorating their
homes, Christmas decorations contests are common and the winner
is the best-decorated house. Talking about decorations reminds me
about the Mistletoe!! The favourite decoration of all British people.
According to the Scandinavian tradition, any two people that meet
under the Mistletoe should kiss. Oh! I can’t forget about the Advent
Calendar!! It’s my favourite of them all, you can open each little box
and find a chocolate (or a treat for your pet). Kid’s favourite are of
course Santa’s Grotto, they can have some time with Santa Claus, on
the other side, Christmas Pantomime is families favourite, where
they enjoy a musical theatre comedy play with the whole family. My
friends and I often send Christmas cards to our loved ones, it’s
almost something obligatory, but we put all our love and effort into
them. Christmas dinner is usually all the family sitting and having a
good time, Christmas crackers are always there and it’s always funny
to see the ones who got the paper crown complain about it. We
usually eat roasted turkey with vegetables, followed by the lovely
Christmas pudding (and if you want more calories, you can eat cake
too). Sitting around the tree you can expect the family to sing some
carols or read some Christmas tales, such like “The Snowman” or
“The Christmas Carol”. Before going to sleep, you should leave
some cookies, a glass of milk and some carrots for Santa Claus and
his reindeers and the next day your presents will be there!! Queen’s
speech is broadcasted by the BBC at 3pm of December 25th and she
always talks about the most important things that happened along the
year. Last but not least, the Boxing Day arrives. It was introduced by
the Anglo-Saxons, this was a time where you give seasonal gifts - in
a Christmas box. The good thing is that the prices decrease a lot for
this occasion!! So, I hope you liked my description about Christmas
around here, I really hope you enjoyed it, Oh, If you want, you can
spend Christmas with me and my family, then you’ll live the real
experience!!
GREETINGS
Good afternoon, friends and teachers, I just wanted to give you all
my Christmas greetings!! I really wish you a merry Christmas.
We’ve been through so much things and I’m really proud of each of
you, I hope you can enjoy every Christmas time around your loved
ones and always have a smile on your faces, please stay safe and be
careful, have a nice Christmas!!
