Online Learning Promotes Better Learning Environment
Online learning has become a new trend of study since the Outbreak Covid-19 pandemic. The
advancement of telecommunication and internet technology has opened the door for both educaters
and learners to explore and indulge the world of online learning through the platforms like Zoom and
Google Meet. It is hotly debated recently that, if online learning creates better learning environment or
not. In my opinion, I partially agree that online learning promotes better learning environment due to
some reasons. In this essay, I would like to discuss the pros and cons of online learning towards a
better learning environment which include safer learning environment, flexibility and technical issues.
First and foremost, online learning creates safer learning environment. In the midst of
infectious Covid-19 pandemic, all schools are closed down and students are forced to study from
home. This could highly reduced the risk of exposure to the dreadful disease. Due to that, students
feel safe and secure when they are studying from home compared to physical classes. A safe learning
environment reduces anxiety and this enables the students to focus on their studies. Therefore, it is
clear that online learning promotes better learning environment as it gives a sense of security to the
learners.
Online learning promotes better learning environment because of its flexibility. This means
that both educaters and learners can carry out online learning at anywhere and anytime. For example,
one could continue to attend online classes even though he or she is overseas as long as internet
connection and smart gadgets are available. Besides, it is convenient and flexible for students to ask
question and rewatch the recorded video. It is as easy as abc to do our revision through the recorded
video as we can watch it many times. Also, we may ask question through voice messages to our
teachers to clarify our doubts. Hence, it is undoubtly that online learning promotes better learning
environment because it is flexible.
On the other hand, online learning might not promote good learning environment due to
unforeseen technical issues. It is undeniable that poor internet connection affects teaching and
learning process. For instance, students living in suburb or rural regions always face technical
difficulties on online learning. This causes they could not learn well and focus as they are kept
disconnected from online classes. Other than that, unstable internet connection will lead to unclear
audio and video. This causes teachers to repeat their teachings and students might not be able to see
the teaching material. This may result a waste of time and unpractical. Thus, online learning cannot
provide a better learning environment due to unpredictable technical difficulties.
In conclusion, I believe that online learning provides both benefits and drawbacks in
promoting a better learning environment for learners. It requires collaboration of teachers,
administrators, students and the community to make online learning effective and afficient.
