In case of failure of TH 59428 H01 V0101, TH 59428 H01 V1101, TH 59429 H01 V0101 and
TH 59429 H01 V1101 Radiological Imaging Units, two parts may be replaced:
- the High Voltage power Supply (HVPS);
- the CCD Compact Camera including the optical system.

3.2. WARNING
Ž Remove the four screws and the washers which maintain the HVPS. Keep the screws and
the washers for the new HVPS.
! THE HUMIDITY.
TO HAVE A GOOD CONTACT AND TO AVOID DAMAGE, SOME
PRECAUTIONS HAVE TO BE TAKEN DURING CONNECTION .
For this adjustment, you will need a voltmeter with an input impedance higher than or equal to
10 MΩ. Seven test points are available in front of the HVPS and provide a low voltage
proportional to the five electrode voltages, as well as the photocathode and getter currents.
The voltmeter will be used to measure the low voltages on TP1, TP2 and TP3 (the reference for
these voltages is the ground).
ΠSet the switch 1, on the side of the HVPS, to OFF to unlock the voltages.

• If the Radiological Imaging Unit is a triple field type (TH 59428...), repeat steps Ž and
• for Magn. 1 and Magn. 2 modes.
The voltmeter is not used for the final adjustment of the U2 voltage.
ΠPlace a lead pattern with frequencies up to 30 lp/mm in front of the Radiological Imaging
Unit.
If the X-Ray dose is not controlled with a ABC signal, set the X-Ray current in order to
switch off the two led on the top of the camera.
• Turn the U2 encoder while looking at the limiting resolution on the monitor. Choose the U2
voltage which allows the greatest limiting resolution.
• If the Radiological Imaging Unit is a triple field type (TH 59428...), repeat steps Ž and
• for Magn. 1 and Magn. 2 modes.
‘ Finally, reset the switch 1 to ON to lock the voltages.

• Unscrew (one or two turns only) the four camera orientation locking screws to release the
camera rotation (See next page).
Ž Turn the X-Rays on with a flat illumination on the whole entrance field.
A hole on the top cover of the camera, focus, allows to adjust the mechanical focusing.
For this adjustment, it is necessary to use a lead pattern as described in the U2 voltage final
adjustment chapter (HVPS replacement).
MORE CLOSED IS THE IRIS, MORE VISIBLE ARE THE DEFECT DUE TO DUST INTO
video signal after a first amplification and before any signal treatment like shading correction,
gamma and automatic gain control.
This video signal does not include the field synchronisation and it could be necessary to
synchronise the oscilloscope using the video output.
The test report of the camera will indicate three values for this signal
party without the prior consent of THALES ELECTRON DEVICES
VCCD-sat , is the level on this test point measured at the beginning of the CCD saturation.
VCCD-10% , is the level on this test point measured for an entrance dose equal at 10 % of
the dose giving the beginning of the CCD saturation.
VCCD-20% , is the level on this test point measured for an entrance dose equal at 20 % of
the dose giving the beginning of the CCD saturation.
The iris adjustment allows to set the working dose which will be controlled by the ABC system
or Auto kV or mA compensation. To adjust the iris, do as follows :
ΠSelect set-point 1.
• Display the video just after CCD signal on the oscilloscope (display a line in the center of
the image).
Ž Turn the X-Rays on with a flat illumination on the whole entrance field. Adjust the

• Turn the iris adjustment to get a signal on the oscilloscope equal to VCCD-10%.
Note :
If the factory settings are not changed, the working dose of the second set-point will be two
times higher (20 % CCD sat.).
• Turn the X-Rays on with a flat illumination on the whole entrance field.
Ž If the video circle is not perfectly centered compared to the image of the XRII output
screen, an adjustment has to be done. Four parameters of the video circle could be adjusted : the
diameter, the symmetry, the horizontal centering and the vertical centering. The diameter could
be adjusted using P6, video circle, on the top of the camera. To adjust the three other
parameters, the top cover of the camera has to be removed. Two screws on this cover allow to

destinataire à des tiers sans l’accord de THALES ELECTRON DEVICES.
• The following figure shows the location of the four potentiometers when the top cover is
removed.
• Adjust the parameters of the circular blanking to be at the limit of the XRII output screen.
‘ Replace the top cover of the camera.

The camera has been pre-adjusted in our factory as described in the factory settings table. No
specific adjustment, except those described in chapters iris adjustment and focus adjustment, is
required if the application requests these factory settings.
If other settings are required, see the User's manual of the product.

(1) The analog ABC voltage will be close to 6 V and the two ABC digital outputs will be at the
low level for a video signal into the measuring window of :
- 10 % of the CCD saturation level, if the set-point 1 is selected ;
- 20 % of the CCD saturation level, if the set-point 2 is selected ;
