CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Compost is organic material that can be

added to soil to help plant grow healthy and gives good yield.
Composting is the natural way of recycling organic matter like
leaves and food scraps into available fertilizer that can enrich soil
and the plant. Through the decomposed matters which end up
looking like fertile garden soil is called a compost. Compost is rich
in nutrients and used for gardening, horticulture and agriculture
sector.
Compost can be explained as organic
matters which is broken down into simple organic and inorganic
materials through the process called composting
BENEFIT OF COMPOSTING
 Enriches soil, help retaining moisture
 Reduce the need for chemical fertilizer
 Prevent / reduce erosion.

MATERIALS AND METHODS
COMPOSTING KITCHEN WASTE

Materials Required ;
 Kitchen waste
 Garden photo
 Newspaper
 Soil
 Wooden plank

4. Newspaper Methodology:
The composting process adopted for kitchen waste and garden
waste different students Have the option to choose the
composting of either kitchen waste or garden waste

METHOD: KITCHEN WASTE COMPOSTING
GARDEN POT COMPOSTING

A large cement garden pots are the simplest and
cheapest containers for kitchen waste composting the base hole of
the pots are closed. At bottom of the pot a layer of soil is spread at
one thickness above this layer spread newspapers at one thickness
above this layer spread the green leaves in the same thickness.
Above this layer spread the kitchen waste including food waste,
egg shells, vegetable waste, fruit peels et in one thickness
Over this layer add soil and cover it. The
moisture with in the bin has to be regulated by spreading dry
leaves. The bin covered with a piece of wooden plank.
LOCATION
Best place to start composing is outdoor so the

location I choose the open place around my house

OBSERVATION AND DATA COLLECTION
 In the first week compost pile started to dry up add adequate

water to it.
 7 days after open it and mix well check the moisture in the
compost.
 After 2 weeks open it and a mixed it on the same direction
and add some dry leaves to control the moisture.
 After 30 to 35 days compost is ready to harvest and the
preparation of compost is completed.
 The use of garden soil will keep the bad smell away and it
will faster the composting process

COST
BENEFIT ANALYSIS
I did not have any specific cost for bio compost

preparation. The complete preparation was done using my
house hold items

CONCLUSION
As a part of my curriculum I have a
project related to Manure making for the purpose of the
project I have to make a bio compost in my home. From the
beginning and to the end I used the traditional method of
preparation of bio compost .it help me to avoid use of
chemical fertilizer and also help me to reduce unnecessary
ghost for buying fertilizer.
From these projects work I get a great
experience to know more about organic manure making also
get an opportunity to make organic manure and also get bio
fertilizer for my house hold purpose.

CHAPTER:7
ABSTRACT
Composting is a biological process in which

microorganisms of aerobic (which require air or oxygen for
development) and anaerobic (which functions in absence of air or
free oxygen). Decompose organic matter. Conversion of organic
wastes generated at household level to useful materials like
manure is the theme of the project. Kitchen wastes and garden
wastes, generated on a daily basis are to be processed and
converted to compost by using appropriate methods.
Depending upon convenience and accessibility, the

students may opt for processing of either kitchen waste or garden
waste. For students who operate from their house, processing of
kitchen waste may be more practical. For the others, especially
those residing in hostels, processing of garden waste and leaf litter
may be preferred.
The composting process adopted for kitchen wastes

and garden wastes are different Students. have the option to
choose the composting of either kitchen waste or the garden
waste.It's very cheap and easy to make compost in three months.
I did not have any specific cost for bio complete

construction. The complete construction was done using my
household items.
