Pole loading, wall loading, and wind must be considered during site preparation.
In some cases, cell site equipment may not mount directly to wall without a plate or
adequate Unistrut to properly distribute the load.
The support structure must be designed in compliance with national building codes and
all other applicable codes.

Guidelines
• The RRH cannot be installed in an enclosed camouflage box.
• The RRH cannot be installed in an enclosed equipment room without a cooling
system.
• When multiple RRHs are installed in centralized mode, the minimum clearance
requirements must be met. For details about the minimum clearance requirements,
see Clearances for Three or More RRHs and Installation Spacing Between RRHs in
the next section.
g Note: If the RRH is improperly installed, heat dissipation of the RRH deteriorates and
the RRH may not work properly, as shown in Figure 5: Improperly installed RRHs.
Figure 5 Improperly installed RRHs
Method of installation:
• To ensure the heat dissipation of the RRH and waterproofing of the ports at the
bottom of the RRH, the vertical deviation angle of an RRH must be less than or equal
to 10 degrees, as shown in Figure 6: Requirements for the vertical deviation angle of
an RRH.
• On a tower, an RRH can be installed on a pole, angle steel, or U-steel. The side-
mounted installation mode (one side instead of the rear of an RRH is mounted on the
support) is recommended for RRHs on the main pole secured on a tower. This
installation mode allows multiple RRHs to be installed next to each other at the same
level on a pole. When the horizontal distance between the main and auxiliary poles
on a tower is equal to or greater than 810 mm (23.62 in.), the side-mounted mode is
recommended for installing RRHs on the auxiliary pole to meet the minimum
clearance requirements. Otherwise, the standard mode is recommended for
installing RRHs on the auxiliary pole.

This section describes the requirements for the installation clearance of a single RRH
and multiple RRHs and the requirements for the installation spacing between RRHs.
g Note:
• The recommended clearance ensures normal running and provides an appropriate
space for operation and maintenance (OM). If there is sufficient space, leave the
recommended clearance after installing the equipment.
• The minimum clearance ensures normal running and heat dissipation, but OM
activities such as checking indicator status and opening the cabling cavity cannot
be properly conducted. If the installation space is restricted, leave the minimum
clearance after installing the equipment.

g Note:
• The maximum distance between the power supply and the RRH is 27m (88.6 ft)
with 4mm2 cable. If an RRH power cable greater than 27 m (88.6 ft) is required,
6mm2 or 10 mm2 cable can be used with a special adaptor kit that can be crimped
on to the power cable near the cabling cavity.
• If a power device provided by the customer is used, the recommended specification
of the circuit breaker on this power device is 15 A to 30 A.
Table 10 Max Power supply cable length
There are three types of RRH power cables in terms of cross-sectional areas: 3.3 mm2
(0.005 in.2) (12 AWG) and 5.3 mm2 (0.008 in.2) (10 AWG) complying with North
American standards and 4 mm2 (0.006 in.2) complying with European standards.
A tool-less female connector (pressfit type) needs to be added to one end of the RRH
power cable; a corresponding terminal needs to be added to the other end based on the
requirements of the connector on the external power device, as shown in the following
figure.

RF configurations
The B7 RRH2x40-4R-A supports 3GPP Release 9 Band 7 with operating bandwidths of
2500 MHz to 2570 MHz (uplink) and 2620 MHz to 2690 MHz (downlink).

LTE B7 RRH2x40-4R-A (UHHB) Site Preparation Antenna requirements
Guidelines
• 2 m (6.56 ft)
• 3 m (9.84 ft)
• 4 m (13.12 ft)
• 6 m (19.68 ft)
• 10 m (32.81 ft)
One end of the RF jumper is connected to the ANT_TX/RXA, ANT_TX/RXB, ANT_RXC,
or ANT_RXD port at the bottom of the RRH, and the other end is connected to the
antenna.
An RF jumper has a 7/16 DIN male connector at RRH end and a customized connector
at the other end.
g Note:
• When the distance between an RRH and an antenna is greater than 10 m (32.81 ft),
one end of the RF jumper is connected to a feeder, and the other end is connected
to the antenna.
• If the customer prepares the RF jumper, the length of the RF jumper should be as
short as possible and not exceed 2 m (6.56 ft.).
The following figure shows an RF jumper with a 7/16 DIN male connector at each end.
Figure 41 RF jumper
g Note: Other wiring plans are possible if the baseband platform being used supports
software remapping of antenna ports. See LR16.2 feature 187905 and or .
Dual-polarized, dual-column, four connector antennas are comprised of two antennas
with elements oriented at +45 degrees and another two antennas with elements oriented
at -45 degrees. As a result, correlation between antennas with the same element
orientation is high, while correlation between antennas with orthogonally oriented
elements is low. The same principle applies for two dual-polarized, two connector
antennas that are physically very close together.
To optimize common channel performance:
• TxRx1 and TxRx2 should be connected to orthogonally polarized antenna ports
DN09249112 Issue: 06 © 2018 Nokia 61
Antenna requirements LTE B7 RRH2x40-4R-A (UHHB) Site Preparation
Guidelines
• TxRx1 and (Tx)Rx3 should be connected to orthogonally polarized antenna ports
• (Tx)Rx4 and TxRx2 should be connected to orthogonally polarized antenna ports
• (Tx)Rx4 and (Tx)Rx3 should be connected to orthogonally polarized antenna ports
g Note: These rules apply whether ports 3 and 4 are configured as receive-only ports or
transmit/receive ports. The notation “(Tx)Rx3” is meant to convey that port 3 may
support transmit or may not depending on the chosen configuration.
The result is that TxRx1 and (Tx)Rx4 should have the same polarization as each other
and the opposite polarization from TxRx2 and (Tx)Rx3. If TxRx1 and (Tx)Rx4 have
positive polarization then TxRx2 and (Tx)Rx3 must have negative polarization. If TxRx1
and (Tx)Rx4 have negative polarization then TxRx2 and (Tx)Rx3 must have positive
polarization. Either arrangement is equally beneficial. These four alternative cabling
configurations are shown in .

LTE B7 RRH2x40-4R-A (UHHB) Site Preparation Grounding and lightning protection requirements
Guidelines
The grounding electrode system shall be installed as part of site preparation with a
sufficient number of pigtails. Electrically conductive materials in the vicinity that are likely
to become energized must be connected together and to the grounding electrode system
in a manner that establishes an effective ground-fault current path.
Buried ground conductors must be, at a minimum, 16 mm2 (#6 AWG) bare, solid, tinned
copper wire. Exterior ground conductors must be, at a minimum, 16 mm2 (#6 AWG)
either solid, bare, tinned copper or stranded, insulated (outdoor insulation to be sunlight-
resistant) copper cable.
Exothermic weld
Exothermic weld is recommended for grounding connections where practical. All below-
grade connections must be exothermically welded. Compression type, two-hole (0.75-
inch center) lugs or double crimp "C" taps are acceptable for above-ground connections.
The contact area where connections are made shall be prepared to a bare bright finish,
and be coated with an anti-oxidation material before connections are made.

The CPRI fiber optic cables which provides the link from the BBU to the RRHs, are
offered in various lengths from 5 meters to 300 meters. The cables are available in multi-
mode dual-fiber and single-mode dual-fiber configurations.
The optical mode (SM or MM) is given by the distance between the eNodeB and the
RRH:
• The Multi Mode Dual Fibres are used for short distance (<= 300m).
• The Single Mode Dual Fibres must be used for high distance up to 10km.
This optical link connects the RRH to the BBU in case of star configuration.
In case of daisy chaining configuration, only the first RRH of the chain is connected to
the BBU (eNodeB), other RRHs are connected to the previous RRH on the chain.

LTE B7 RRH2x40-4R-A (UHHB) Site Preparation Appendix: Electrical power requirements for 3rd party
Guidelines -48V DC power systems
Each RRH requires one DC feed. The DC cable type recommended is H07 RN-F (2 x
6mm2 or equivalent, this cable is composed of two (2) core 10 AWG (6mm2).
Alternate wire gauges may be used for the DC feeders, but shall be sized to limit the
round trip voltage drop between the power system output terminals and the RRH input
terminals to less than 2V. A current level equal to 80% of the circuit breaker current
rating specified shall be used for this calculation. The wire used for the DC feeders shall
be rated for the environmental condition in which it is used and shall be rated and sized
according to the applicable sections of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) or the
Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 (CSA C22.1) for NAR markets, IEC 60364 for non-NAR
markets, or the local electrical code in use. The circuit breaker characteristics shall be
equivalent to Airpax Inc., model LEL/LML, circuit breakers with type 51, DC trip delay
curve characteristics.

Default voltage
If a failure occurs with the DC Power system controller, the DC power system output
voltage shall remain within the range specified in the table above.
DC voltage regulation
The DC voltage shall be regulated to within ± 0.5% of the voltage set in the table above
under all conditions of line, load and temperature.
DC soft start
The DC voltage at input of the RRH shall not overshoot more than 3.5% of the set
voltage in the table above for a period of more than 100 milliseconds, under any
conditions.
w If the DC power supplied to the RRH is not equipped with backup power, undesirable
performance may be experienced during interruption and/or transients to the AC input
power.

LTE B7 RRH2x40-4R-A (UHHB) Site Preparation Appendix: Electrical power requirements for 3rd party
Guidelines -48V DC power systems
RRH Maximum voltage range(Volts DC) Maximum voltage for up to one second
The DC power system shall not provide sustained voltage to the RRH at the maximum
voltage values, for more than one second, as shown in the table above. If a power
system failure occurs which causes loss of regulation resulting in voltage levels given in
the table above stated as the "maximum voltage range", the power system shall
shutdown or clamp its output voltage below -56.2 V DC (for -48 V DC systems) until the
problem is corrected.
DC power grounding
The -48 V DC return conductors shall be bonded to the frame ground system at the
output of the DC power system. For proper site grounding of the equipment, refer to
Nokia's, Grounding and Lightning Protection Guidelines for Alcatel-Lucent Network
Wireless System Cell Sites.

Telecommunications Standards
The equipment complies with the following telecommunication specifications:
• Technical Basis Regulation TBR 13
Antenna exposure
Antenna installations for the RRH; is performed in accordance with all applicable
manufacturer's recommendations, and national laws and regulations. To ensure correct
antenna installation, the antenna installer performs all necessary calculations and/or field
measurements to evaluate compliance with applicable national laws or regulations
regarding exposure to electromagnetic fields. The supplier of radio equipment, the
supplier of antenna equipment and the integrator and builder of the site must provide
sufficient information so that the limits of the exclusion zones can be determined. Any
changes to the antenna or other equipment in the transmit path may require re-
evaluation of the exposures to electromagnetic fields.
Pursuant to
• European Council Recommendation 1999/519/EC "On the limitation of exposure of
the general public to electromagnetic fields" dated 12 July 1999 and
• ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection) "Guidelines
for limiting exposure to time-varying electric, magnetic, and electromagnetic fields",
all installations must be evaluated against the Reference Levels, and if necessary
exclusion zones for public and installation workers defined.
The following information on Nokia supplied equipment is available from customer
representatives:
• Output power and antenna characteristic, if the product is equipped with an integral
antenna.
• A detailed description of at least one typical normal configuration, including antenna
system (feeders, connectors, combiners, antennas etc.), if the product is intended to
be used with external antennas.
• Limit distances for general public and occupational exposure. If the product is
intended for use with external antennas, limit distances are given for the given typical
system configurations.
• Information how to specify exposure levels and limit distances for any optional
system configuration not specified in detail.
• Information on how to install the equipment/system or the external antennas in order
to ensure that the separation between the radiating antenna and general public are
exceeding the maximum allowed distances.

This product is designed to ensure that personnel operating the product are not
endangered by laser radiation during normal operation and fault conditions. This product
does not present a risk of eye injury because it is fully enclosed and does not contain
embedded lasers greater than Class I/1 unless otherwise noted.
f CAUTION! laser
Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified
herein may result in hazardous laser radiation exposure.
Do not view directly into the laser beam with optical instruments such as a fiber
microscope because viewing of laser emission in excess of Class 1 limits significantly
increases the risk of eye damage.
Never look into the end of an exposed fiber or an open connector as long as the optical
source is switched on.
Ensure that the optical source is switched off before disconnecting optical fiber
connectors.
