OTIS TYPE "B" MAN OREL

- Running Tool : W, C or H (H recommended)

- Pulling Tool RB

- Designed to hold a 100 bars differential pressure from bottom up only.

- It is not recommended to anchor below 1000 ft.

RUNNINGlN L~ITHTHE RUNNINGTOOL "H"

A - Go down sl owly .

B - Near the anchoring depth, speed up.

The running tool slides down over the mandrel which is slowed down by the
packings expanded because of the fluid flow. The slips move down over the
cone and grip onto the tubing. The bulk of the stems supplies the necessary
shock for setting.

- Further jarring down shears the shear pin of the running tool and perfects
the anchoring.
PULLINGWITH THE PULLINGTOOL "RB"

C - The pulling tool dogs being engaged on the fishing neck, jar down.

- The pulling tool prong hits the mandrel bOdy which goes down : the slips
are free.

D - The' whole assembly can be pulled out. 1/

NOTE: The operation of the running tool type "H", and the pulling tool "RB"
is detailed in section VII.

OTISTYPEW AND C MANDREL

(The drawing page 2. 4 shows the operation of the type W Ma~drel. The
operation of the type C follows the same principle).

- Runni ng Tool : w
- Pulling Tool : RB

- Designed to hold differential pressure from bottom up only (Max. 1750 psi).
- Not to be set above 1000 ft. ,
1
SETTINGWITH THE RUNNINGTOOLTYPE W

A - The anchoring slips slide along the tubing wall during running in.

B - When the anchoring depth is teached. pull up :

- The cone forces the slips to grip the tubing wall.

- Jarring up shears the pins which fix the Mandrel body and cone together.
The body moves up and the lower conical shoulder engages under the packings.
sealing off the tubing.

- Further upward jarring shears the pins of the Running Tool.

- Pull up the wire line string.

PULLINGWITH THE PULLINGTOOLTYPE RB 11

"'-tI
C- The Pulling Tool skirt engages onto the Mandrel fishing neck. and the
Pulling Tool core strikes the Mandrel body which goes down :

- The Pulling Tool dogs latch onto the Mandrel fishing neck.

- The lower conical shoulder moves out of the packing. then :

- The shoulder of the Mandrel body catches the cone assembly and moves it
down thus freeing the slips.

0 - The Mandrel then hangs on the fishing neck and can be pulled out.

NOTE: The operation of the Running Tool type W and the Pulling Tool type RB
is detailed in section VII.

- The selection is made by a combination ( nipple + selective keys of

the mandre1 ) .
There are 5 keys, therefore 5 selections stamped on the mandrel keys
from 1 to 5 (n° 1 is the lower one in the completion).
- The Type IITII mandrel differs from the Type 11511mandrel because it has
a sma11er 00.

5ETTING THE ~~ANOREL IISII !~ITH RUNNlNGTOOL IITII

A t~hile going down, the positioning keys CD slide along the tubing.
The anchoring dogs @ are tied up to the Running Tool and retracted.
B (iJhen the Mandrel passes in front of its IIcompanionli nipple, the
positioning keys enter the nipple because they have the same profile.
The mandrel is stopped by the flat shoulder of the keys.
Oownwardjarring shears the pin of the Running Tool, thus freeing the
dog carrier.

C Upward jarring anchors the mandrel : the mandrel goes up slightly,

collapsing the positioning keys and setting the anchoring dogs aSlde
i nto th e ni pp1e.' 11
The packings are squeezed and the tubing is sealed.
The jarring also shears the 2 tangential pins of the Running Tool which
can be retrieved.

PULLINGHITH THE PULLINGTOOL IIRSII

0 ln order to make the dogs of the Pulling Tool catch the fishing
neck of the Mandrel rod, it is necessary to slightly jar down the
mandrel . (the Pulling Tool core hits the mandrel body).
The mandrel is thus unlocked and can be retrieved.

NOTE: The operation of the Running Tool IITII and the Pulling Tool IIRSII
is detailed section VII.

The Types XNand RN No-Go Landing Nipples and Mandrels are normally used
in single nipple installations or as the bottom nipple in conjunction with
a series of Type X or Type R Landing Nipples. The Type XNNo-Go Nipple is
used with Type X Landing Nipples. The Type RNNo-Go Nipple is used with
Type R Landing Nipple.

Type XNOtis Landing Nipples offer a full opening packing bore, with
locking recess at the top of the nipple and a slightly restricted no-go
profile at the bottom. The restricted no-go profile is designed to prevent
some wire-line tools from being run below the tubing and lost. Some other
uses include : plugging to hold pressure from above where hydraulic packers
are to be set, or where an upperzone has to be squeezed, acidized or tested.

OTISJ andE MANDRELSand NIPPLES

- can hol d pressures \ 1
TYPEJ LANOINGNIPPLE - TYPE E LANOINGNIPPLE

The Type J and E Otis Landing Nipples are non-selective type nipples designed with
the No-Go and locking recess in the upper part of the nipple; these nipples can
be used as alternates ta the Types N and Q Nipples,

The Type J Landing Nipple has its greatest uses as an alternate ta the Type N
Landlng Nipple or as 9 seating nipple for landing plugs or as a pump seating
nipple and is always the lowermost ni~ in the tubing string.
.J The Type J cannot be used below a Type N Nipple but is frequently installed ta
land subsurface controls that must have smaller dimensions than the S equipment.
The Type J Nipple will pass most IIthrough tubing" perforator guns and can be used
as a pump seating nipple. It has another use in that it may be used on the short
string of a multiple string completion where a full-opening nipple is not required.
However, due ta the mandrel design, Type J mandrels should not be used where
pressure differentials from .above will exceed 5.000 psi.
The Type E Landing Nipple is generally recommended for limited application only,
and should be used only when a restriction in the tubing string is unimportant.
An example of the Type E Landing Nipple's use is where a multiple-hale packer
restricts the tubing 1.0. ta the extent that the minimum size equipment must be
used.

The Type E Nipple is sized to seat Type F dimensional sub-

surface equipment. Due to the Type F Equipment's small 0.0.,
it is one of Otis' easiest lines of equipment to run, set,
and retrieve.

TYPE J AND E OTIS MANORELASSEMBLIES

The Type J and E Otis Mandrel Assemb1~es, designed to be used

with Otis bottom-hole flow controls, are run ta seat and lock
in their corresponding landing nipples. They are both non-
selective mandrels with the No-Go being part of the dog carrier
mandrel. The Type J ~1andrel differs from the Type E Mandrel in .
that it has a larger packing 0.0.

SERIES "0" LANDINGNIPPLES

- The CAMCO"0" Series Landing Nipples are No-Go type designed

to be run as the last nipple in the tubing string.
- The packing bore, slightly restricted, will allow passage
of wireline service tools, as well as through tubing perfo-
rating equipment.
The No-Go is incorporated on the Series "C" locking mandrel
and contacts the "0" Nipple above the upper packing section.
The No-Go feature allows positive positioning, which reduces
wireline time.
Each nipple is corrosion resistant.

- SERIES "OS" LANDINGNIPPLES 1'"

Similar in design to the Series "0" nipple. The difference

is a slightly larger packing bore equivalent to the Series
"w" landing nipples.
The Series "OS" nipple receives the "CS" Lock.
