1. The Definition of Drama.

A drama is a work of literature primarily intended to be performed in front of an audience. The story
is told through the lines of the characters acted by actors in this genre of writing, which is written in
the form of a script. Drama is derived from greek Word "draomai," which meaning (an act, a play) (to
act, to take action). The drama can be used to describe a person's life, conduct (acting), or staged
speech. The drama is divided into numerous sections, some of which are comedy, tragedy, or
tragicomedy.

2. Comedy
A literary work meant to amuse or entertain a reader is referred to as a comedy. In a comedy,
characters may face misfortune, but it is usually in the context of a humorous situation with a happy
ending. Not every instance of comedy as a literary device is amusing. The light hearted handling of
story and tone, on the other hand, allows a reader or audience to release emotion and tension as a
gratifying escape from the mundaneness of life or sad situations, with the possibility of obtaining
insight into mankind and the self. Besides to make the audience laugh, Comedies are usually having a
happy ending.
Example of comedy drama:

- Monty Python and the Holy Grail

- Tartuffe
- Desperate Housewives

3. Tragedy
tragedies are terrible, depressing dramas that usually end in tragedy. These dramas can be written in
prose or verse, and they usually revolve around a character who suffers a large deal of unforeseen
tragedy. Frequently, the character's misfortune is caused by a tragic defect in his personality, such as
thirst for power or impulsive thinking.
Example of Tragedy drama:
- Othello by William Shakespeare
- Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

4. Tragicomedy
Tragicomedy is a subgenre of comedy that incorporates aspects of tragedy. A tragicomedy can be
either a serious drama with a joyful conclusion (which is not the case with a simple tragedy) or a
tragic play with moments of humour scattered throughout to lighten the atmosphere.
Example of Tragicomedy drama:
- The Winter’s Tale by William Shakespeare
- The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov
