1. Does branding allow products to be over-priced in comparison with their
functionality which might not be that much different from cheaper products?
2. Was Adidas correct in withdrawing sponsorship from the Olympics? What do you
think the risks would be to Adidas if they withdrew from the Olympics?
3. When businesses make ethical choices they sometimes come at the cost of losing
business and profits, which may happen with Adidas withdrawing from the
Olympics. Is there a limit to ethical responsibility for a business? Think about what
impact Adidas will have on the Olympics by withdrawing; what responsibility does
Adidas have for ethical behaviour in the Olympics; and why might other key
companies not follow Adidas.
