Aerodynamics

Aerodynamics is a study of how gases interact with moving bodies. Aerodynamics is mainly concerned
with the force if drag and lift induced by air flowing over or through solid bodies. It is mainly used in the
study of aeronautics.

Aerodynamic Principles

There are four principle on aerodynamics which are:

 Weight
 Lift
 Drag
 Thrust

These physics of flight determines how high or low an aircraft goes and how fast and slow it goes also.

Bernoulli’s Flight Principle

Bernoulli’s principle of flight states that as the speed of a moving fluid(liquid or gas) increases the
pressure within the fluid decreases.

He came up with a theory of how lift us generated. Bernoulli said it first takes thrust to get an airplane
moving. He also stated that although lift exists at all parts of an airplane it is more present at the wings

The wings of an airplane is called an airfoil , the air into which the airplane flies is split at the wings
leading edge passing above and below the wings at different speeds so that the air will reach the same
end point along the trailing edge of the wing at the same time.

In general, the wings upper surface is curved so that the air running over the top of the wing speeds up
and stretches out which decreases the air pressure above the wing. The air flowing below the wing is
straight thus it’s speed and pressure remains constant.

Since high pressure always moves towards low pressure, the air below the wing pushes upwards
towards the air above the wing. The wing in the middle is then lifted by the force if air perpendicular to
the wing. When the force of lift is greater than gravity, the airplane is able to fly and because of thrust it
is able to move forward in flight.
