Good Morning po, I am Kristel Claire Lebaste, the presenter of our Group. So, the Non-
Communicable disease that we chose is the Leukemia. Before po ako mag proceed sa
prevention and control ng disease na ‘to, let me briefly discuss what is Leukemia.
It is a cancer of the body's blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow and the lymphatic
system. Eto yung madalas nating tinatawag na blood cancer, it begins in the immature or
developing cells from the bone marrow. It is a type of cancer that is caused by a rise in the
number of white blood cells in the body.
According to the latest study po, yung 5-year survival rate for all subtypes ng leukemia is 61.4
percent—yung 5-year survival rate tinitignan nito if gaano kadami ang lumalaban o buhay pa
after 5 years mula noong ma diagnosed sila sa sakit na Leukemia. Etong type ng cancer na ‘to
is very common sa mga taong na naglalaro sa edad na 55, then the median age is 66. Also, It is
known as one of the common cancer sa mga taong under 20 years old. And, mas prone yung
So, How to prevent it? Is there any possible way to prevent Leukemia knowing that some
types of cancers are not curable? The answer is, yes, we can prevent it or atleast bawasan
Sa side, here’s a reminder: It says, unhealthy diet and lifestyle habits can affect the cells
and cause multiple cancers including leukemia but according to a research there are
some lifestyles that can prevent leukemia.
First is, Avoid Smoking. Smoking increases the risk of multiple types of cancer, including
blood cancer. So if a person never smoked or he or she already quit smoking it will lower the
risk of having this type of cancer—kasi yung reason kung bakit isa sa factor yung smoking, kung
bakit tumataas yung chance na magkaroon ng cancer ang isang tao is because yung toxins
from the cigarette weaken the body’s immune response, making it harder to fight off cancer.
Avoid breathing Chemicals, such as benzene and formaldehyde, kase these are classified
as carcinogens or the cancer causing chemicals, they can increase the risk of having leukemia
if palagi silang naamoy ng isang tao. The example of these types of chemicals are paints,
pesticides, drugs, and gasoline, they can be found in some workplace like sa mga laboratories
and buildings.
Have a good lifetyle, a person needs to have a Proper Diet and Exercise for him or for her to
maintain a moderate weight kasi being obese is another risk for leukemia. According sa isang
study, it is a condition that can increase the potential risks of taking free radicals that could lead
to chronic myelogenous leukemia or CML.
So, taking steps to keep a moderate weight can reduce the risk of chronic illness . We can start
by developing a balanced diet, and also need na mag take ng mga food na full sa antioxidants
tulad ng mga berries.
Avoid other types of cancers, kasi any type of cancer that requires chemotherapy or radiation
increases one susceptibility to develop leukemia. These cancer treatments kasi they can
compromise the immune system to open the body’s system to the danger of not just developing
cancer but also several other diseases.
Though it is not one hundred percent curable meron paring ways para ma kontrol o pabagalin
The treatment options for leukemia vary and depend on several factors, including: the type of
leukemia, the age of the patient, and the overall health of the patient.
Targeted therapy: or also known as the molecularly targeted therapy. This treatment uses
tyrosine kinase inhibitors, eto yung klase ng drug or gamot that targets cancer cells without
Also, they have a lower risk of side effects.
Radiation therapy: This treatment uses high-energy radiation or waves such as x-rays,
gamma rays, electron beams, or protons to kill or slow the growth by damaging the cancer
cells. It involves emitting radiation from an external machine or an internal device.
Stem cell transplant: This involves using chemotherapy to kill bone marrow cells, including
cancerous cells. Doctors then replace them with new stem cells that can develop into healthy
mature cells.
Then, take natural supplements and vitamins and eat healthy food.
Drinking vitamins and eating healthy food such as fruits and
vegetables may help to control the wide and fast spread of cancer cells in the body.
Different natural cures are available that may likewise assist with treating leukemia. These are
some remedies that you can do or take without stopping your medication
Drink, green tea. Green Tea may help due to its antioxidants that help in removing the
damaging free radicals from the body and also detoxifying. It also strengthens and boosts
yung ating immune system and improves its functioning.
You can also drink Carrot Juice. Carrot juice is a perfect answer to your question how to
beat leukemia naturally. Yung carrots kasi rich sila sa vitamin A and carotenoids, which have
the ability to damage cancer cells, so yung ibig sabihin nakakatulong din talaga ‘to sa
pagkontrol sa sakit na Leukemia.
And last, eat food containing Whole grains. Because, whole grains are high in fiber, which
can help a person lean and lower the risk of having cancer. Dietary fiber can help maintain
a healthy weight and help lower the cancer risk.
