Basic Multi-Stitch Scarf

PATTERN INFORMATION:
Skill Level:
Beginner

Materials:
• Worsted weight yarn: 132 yards in each of 4 colors
• US J-10/6mm crochet Hook or size needed to obtain gauge
• Yarn Needle, Scissors, Measuring Tape

Size:
7’4” long x 6.25” wide, excluding fringe
Gauge:
20 sc = 6.25”
Abbreviations:
ch(s) = chain(s)
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
sc = single crochet
sc2tog = single crochet 2 together
sl st = slip stitch
st(s) = stitch(es)
tr = treble
yo = yarn over

Special Stitches:
Extra Extended Single Crochet (eesc): Insert the hook into the next stitch, yo, and pull up a loop. Yo, pull
through the first loop on hook (2 loops remain on hook). Yo, and pull through one loop on hook (2 loops
remain on hook). Yo, and pull through the last 2 loops on the hook.

Modified Single Crochet 2 Together (modsc2tog): Insert hook into the next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull
through 1 loop on hook, insert hook into the next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through all 3 loops on the
hook.

Herringbone Half-double crochet (Hhdc): Yo, insert hook in indicated stitch, yo, draw loop through the st
and the first loop on hook, yo, draw through two loops on hook.

Beginning Linked Treble (Beg linked tr): Ch 3, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, yo, pull up a loop, insert
hook into next ch, yo, pull up a loop, insert hook into first st, yo, pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), [yo, draw
through 2 loops on hook] 3 times.

Pattern notes:
Any turning chains at the end of the row do not count as a stitch at the beginning rows unless otherwise
stated.

Pattern:
Stitch Pattern #1 - Single Crochet
With Color A chain 21.
Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across; ch 1, turn. [20 sts]
Row 2: Sc in each st across; ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until this section is 6” long.

Stitch Pattern #2 - Gritty All-Over Pattern


Row 1: With color A, sc in the first st, eesc in next st, *sc in next stitch, eesc in the next st, repeat from *
across; ch 1, turn. [20 sts]
Row 2: Sc across; ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in first 2 sts, eesc in next st, *sc in next stitch, eesc in the next st, repeat from * across to last st,
sc in last st; ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Sc across; ch 1, turn.
Repeat Rows 1-4 until this section is 6” long, ending after a repeat of Row 2 or 4.

Stitch Pattern #3 - Knot in Rows


Row 1: With color A, modsc2tog in first 2 sts, [starting in the last st worked into, modsc2tog] across, sc again
in last st; ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 1 until this section is 6” long.

Half Double Crochet Patterns


Note: Stitch Patterns 4-6 are all worked in color B.

Stitch Pattern #4 - Half Double Crochet


Row 1: With color B, ch 2, hdc in each hdc across; ch 2, turn.
Row 2: Hdc in each hdc across; ch 2, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until this section is 6” long.

Stitch Pattern #5 - Crunch Stitch


NOTE - Each row will always start with an Hdc and end with a slip stitch
Row 1: Hdc in first st, sl st in next st, *Hdc in next st, sl st in next st, repeat from * across; ch 2, turn.
Repeat Row 1 until this section is 6” long.

Pattern continuation:
Stitch Pattern #6 - Herringbone Hdc (Hhdc)
Row 1: Hhdc in each stitch across; ch 2, turn.
Repeat Row 1 until this section is 6” long.

Double Crochet Patterns


Note: Stitch Patterns 7-9 are all worked in color C.

Stitch Pattern #7 - Double Crochet


At the end of the previous row, ch 3 (does not count as a st).
Row 1: Dc in each st across; ch 2, turn.
Repeat Row 1 until this section is 6” long.

Stitch Pattern #8 - Kroller Stitch


At the end of the previous row, only ch 1.
Row 1: [Sc, hdc, dc] in the first stitch, *skip 2 sts, [sc, hdc, dc] in next st; repeat from * across to last 3 sts, skip
2 sts, hdc in last st; ch 2 (count as first hdc of next row throughout Stitch Pattern), turn.
Row 2: [Sc, hdc, dc] in each dc across, hdc in top of ch-2; ch 2, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until this section is 6” long.

Stitch Pattern #9 - Kuranchi Stitch


Row 1: Dc in each st across; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sl st in first dc, *dc in next dc, sl st in next dc; repeat from * across, ending with last sl st worked in
top of turning ch; ch 2, lturn.
Row 3: Dc in each st across; ch 1, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until this section is 6” long.

Treble / Triple Patterns

Stitch Pattern #10 - Treble/Triple Stitch


At end of previous row end with ch 3 (does not count as a st), turn.
Row 1: Tr in each st across; ch 3, turn.
Repeat Row 1 until this portion is 6” long.

Pattern continuation:
Stitch Pattern #11 - Winding Road Stitch
For this stitch pattern the chain 3 counts as the first double crochet.
Row 1: Dc in the second st, *skip next 2 sts, tr in next 2 sts, working overl sts just made, tr in each skipped st,
dc in next 2 sts, repeat from * across; ch 3, turn.
Row 2: Dc in the second st, skip next 2 tr, tr in next 2 tr, working behind sts just made, tr in each skipped st,
dc in next 2 sts, repeat from * across; ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Dc in the second st, *skip next 2 sts, tr in next 2 sts, working in front of sts just made, tr in each
skipped st, dc in next 2 sts, repeat from * across; ch 3, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until this portion is 6” long.

COLOR D - Stitch Pattern #12 - Linked Treble Stitch


Row 1: Beg linked tr in first st, linked tr in each stitch across to the last stitch, sc in last st; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in each st across; ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Beg linked tr in first st, linked tr in each stitch across; ch 1, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until this portion is 6” long.

Finishing
Weave in ends.

Make Fringe:
Cut yarn into lengths twice as long as you want the finished fringe.
Use one piece of fringe yarn per stitch on each short edge. Attach with larks head knot.
