INTRODUCTION

Consulting means “engaged in the business of giving expert advice to people working in a
specific field.” In other words, a consultant is somebody who gives advice to a specific group of
people. Consulting is the business of providing expert advice to a specific group of people.
So what is a consultant? A consultant is someone who has some level of expertise that a
particular group of people find valuable, and people within that group are willing to pay the
consultant to access their expertise.
Notice there is nothing mentioned about big firms, degrees, or certifications. If you can provide
expert advice to a specific group of people, you can be a consultant
Apparently each and every one was to have the opportunity to consult an organizations, identify
challenges in that industry and provide creative and innovative solution through implementation
and practice.
Below are some importancd of consulting excersie:

1. Competent Solution by Third Party

According to research, company owners are often too close to see the issues clearly which is why
they become blind. But when you hire fresh consultants, they likely get to see the problems that
were right under the nose of the business owner. In addition to discovering the issue, they also
provide hands-on and competent solutions to the existing problems.
Additionally, they are third parties this is why they provide unbiased solutions. This really helps
in the case of family-owned businesses where relationship dynamics can create difficulty in
taking decisions without speaking honestly and openly. Perhaps, a neutral and veteran consultant
would be able to speak openly about the issues.

2. Accomplishment of Goals
employees are performers of their job descriptions, this is why they may get too busy with the
core business activities. Thus, this may make the implementation of the short term goals
difficult. Also, at times employees often get irritated with the additional duties especially if they
are inexperienced.

1
By hiring a veteran and credible consultant, you will be able to save both, money and time of
training the employees and making them execute strategies. Your consultants will help you
achieve the goals seamlessly.

3. Exploring New Skills and Tenacities

The veteran consultants have got hands-on experience with new skills and tactics. In addition to
this, they are also familiar with the new advancements, methodologies, and strategies that can
help your business grow and survive in the best possible manner. Using them smoothly and
professionally, consultants can help carry forward to benefit the company.

4. Extensive Knowledge of the Market

A reliable consultant would have extensive knowledge of the market. In Qatar, the key is to
know about the local market extensively and comprehensively. They have a clear understanding
of the marketplace where the company operates. When you hire a consultant of the relevant
industry, they likely have been experienced in their field, hence they may have gained immense
knowledge from the diverse field. With a solid perspective of what your competitors and other
companies are doing, your consultant will ensure to point out your business lacking and ensure a
better competitive edge to take your business to a new level.

5. Devising Strategic Planning

Business owners and upper management are usually busy with business operations, this becomes
one of the main reasons for not finding extra time for strategic plans and executions. But when
you have consultants on the board, you need not worry about your strategic planning, hey can
dedicate the valuable time in devising strategies for your business keeping your goals in

HISTORY OF THE FISH MONGERS ASSOCIATION (GABBSO)

Cosmetology is one of the GABBSOhe oldest professions and Barbering is a key factor in the
industry. In 1995 a few practitioners in the industry realized that unity is strong as far as
technology and globalization is concerned and they came out to form the Ghana Association of
Barbers and Barbering Salon Owners (GABBSO).
GABBSO’s aims and objectives are to foster unity among barbers and to set standards to
regulate the practices of barbers in the country. GABBSO concentrates on education and training
to meet international market needs. Seeking the welfare of members is also one of the
objectives. GABBSO is committed to its vision, mission, values and also believes in democratic
governance.

3
The Ghana Association of Barbers and Barbering Salon Owners focuses on public safety,
sanitation, hygiene and infection control, making sure that all members understand and work
with health and safety regulations. GABBSO is also active in educating the public about health
hazards associated to unprofessional practices in the barbershops.
Since 2010, GABBSO runs branches in all the ten (10) regions of Ghana with its headquarters in
Accra. Nationwide GABBSO counts 1,800 members.
GABBSO believes that education is the key source to livelihood so it started to work towards a
common barbering curriculum with NVTI in 2006 and since 2009 barbering is part of
proficiency 1&2 CURRICULA. Since the beginning of the Ghana Skills Development Initiative
in 2012 GABBSO attended a series of GSDI trainings and seminars which built the capacity of
most of its national and regional executives.
Recently 15 Master Craftspersons (MCPs) and 15 of their apprentices are undergoing structured
training at the Pentecost Vocational Institute piloting the Cooperative Apprenticeship Training in
cosmetology proficiency one (1). Soon GABBSO will be having its capacity building measures
every quarter at Salon Services Hair & Beauty Academy.

4
STRENGTHS OF THE BUSINESS/ASSOCIATION

1. Customer Service
The the GABBSO association really nderstand pricing, returns, and advertising. This section of
their business or organization made understand how pricings are made. They categories their
pricing system by taking into consideration the young one's and grown up, and In addition they
have fixed pricing for every member of the association. Therefore members feel safe when it
comes to pricing competitions. Their pricing also tends to not supersede those outside the
organization

2. Environment
Thier environmental system also seeks to addresses the organization responsibility to the
environment and the policies it applies to make them work. And due to the coidd situation, each
and everyone in the organization is been given 2 bottles of sanitizer every month and had
supplied every member in the association with a washing basin and soaps, to make their
customers feel safe during the course of offering their service.

3. Innovation
The association have a greatcommitment to new technologies in an attempt to adapt to market
needs. It seeks to be the first to catch up with new trends. Thus, they introduced to to the hair
barbers new style and machinery for timing that is really safe and healthy than the traditional
way of timing (the use of sharp blade). Likewise, the hair salons have been also been introduced
to the new hair massage washing instead of using their hands in washing clients hair.

5
PROBLEMS & SOLUTIONS OF THE BUSINESS/ORGANIZATION

1. Weak Brand Reputation

Thier organization is facing problems as most small businesses have to compete with major
players in their field that have much better branding and better reputation due to their size. This
type of weakness is especially prevalent for newcomers to a market where customers are familiar
with a competing store or brand. Since it's a local organization the competition with the foreign
barbaring salon becomes difficult

2. Not Enough Human Resources

Limited human resources is a weakness many small business owners discover they have when
they do their SWOT analysis. Limited human resources can include having a small staff, which
makes it difficult to tackle every item on the company's to-do list. On the other hand, a company
with a full staff that lacks the skills and training necessary to perform tasks can be a hindrance to
an organization. For instance, if a company wants to launch its social media presence, but none
of the staff has experience in social media, it can be a major weakness for the company. Either
they'll have to hire a consultant, or risk an unsuccessful social media launch.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Conclusion and Recommendation

I conclude by saying that the consulting exercise is needed a remarkable project which much
attention should be emphasized upon it. With the corona virus in the system I was scared of
attending to various clients personally. So I had to communicate with them on telephone and one
time pass by their shops. Hence new technique should be laid out to students on how to
communicate with clients during this covid-19 season.
