What Do You Do
)
I am a law student, I am studying my last level of degree, but I must finish
studying English to be able to graduate. Also, I work in a law firm that is
dedicated to tax and corporate law. Finally, I am the father of a 4-year-old
boy and the husband of a wonderful woman.
3. What do you do in your free time? (Do you play soccer or any sport?)
Actually, I really like hanging out with my son, but what I am most
passionate about is playing basketball with my friends. if you mean external
activities. We usually meet one day a week to play a few games against each
other. I also like to read when I have time.
4. What do you do every day? (what time do you get up/start work?)
I'm going to tell you what I did today, which basically reflects what I do on a
normal day. I woke up at 7, because my son was looking for me to go eat
something together, after we got ready to go to work and school, and before
we left we watched a couple of videos on youtube, of some kids called vlad
and nicky. Then, I took my son to school and then I went to work, my start
time is at 9. sometimes I have to go out to do some paperwork in public
entities, but today I spent the whole day in the office preparing a report for
the creation of a foundation focused on young soccer players. I usually leave
the office at 6pm but sometimes I have to work later. Finally, after long
hours i meet my wife and son for dinner, sometimes we watch a movie or
play games until it's time to sleep.
6. Tell me about something you can do well (can you swim? can you cook?)
I love to cook, and I'm good at it. When my wife and I moved in together, I
had to teach her how to cook, because she works at home and always
prepares food. I am good at teaching too, before studying law I was a dance
teacher for almost 5 years. but I am definitely a very good dancer, and
although the time now is not enough for me to dance as I would like.
7. How often did you used to see your friends?
Now that you mention it, I hardly see my friends. When Tomá s was not
here, I had much more time and we used to get together to dance or have a
few drinks, but later, with university and work, time is much more limited.
When we get together we usually cook something and eat, drink wine and
talk about things drunk people talk about haha
10. Have you been to an English-speaking country? Tell me about our visit, or
tell me about an interesting place you've been.
I have only visited Spanish-speaking countries, but I would very much like
to visit London and other European countries, I really like history and I
think there are places that tell you a lot just by visiting them. One of the
most interesting foreign places I have seen is the Botero Museum in
Colombia, which is known for having very large sculptures, not only of
people, but also animals.
11. Tell me about something you have done recently with your friends or
family. Why did you enjoy it?
A few weeks ago a friend invited us to play a card game called ligretto, and I
wanted to repeat it with my wife's family, but the cards used are special, but
we buy ordinary decks and modify them to be able to play. It is a fun game
because all the participants play at the same time, and you must create an
instant strategy to try to win, there is a lot of adrenaline and emotion.
12. Tell me about the weather in your country. What is your favorite season
and why do you like it?
The climate in Quito is very rare, in first place there is only summer and
winter, and other factors such as air currents or sea currents also influence.
today it can rain a lot and tomorrow it will be as sunny as in the desert.
There is never a certainty of what will happen with the weather in Quito so
whenever you go outside you must carry a cold and hot outfit.
13. Imagine that I am a visitor in your country. What advice would you give me?
I would advise you to visit very beautiful places such as the beaches or the
Galapagos islands, due to the natural diversity that it has. You must also be
careful with the people you deal with and your belongings, there is a lot of
crime.
14. Can you tell me about an object that is special to you? Because is special?
I really like a knife that I have at home, because it is very useful and because
my dad gave it to me. I can arm or disarm things with it and it could also
serve as a self-defense weapon in case someone attacks me. Don't worry,
I'm very peaceful and I never have serious problems using it.
16. How do you keep in touch with your friends and family? (phone/email)
How do you think communication might change in the future?
If I want to talk to someone, I always prefer to call rather than write a
message, because it's easier to understand what people mean to you when
you listen to them. The evolution of communication has been rampant in
the last 2 decades, and it will surely have a higher advance in the coming
years, so much so that the changes that I imagine are compared to science
fiction movies.
17. Tell me about the last movie you saw at the cinema or the last book you
read. Would you recommend it?
The last movie I saw in the cinema was spiderman and of course I would
recommend it, it has an incredible story and develops the ideas of the
comics almost perfectly. I've always been a fan of Marvel Universe movies,
but I specially loved this movie.
19. Have you ever been on a trip where something went wrong?
Yes, of course! When I was returning from my trip to Colombia, my friends
and I were about to miss the flight, because the taxi that took us to the
airport had problems with another driver and they ended up crashing. the
taxi driver went crazy and started following the other driver with a bat in
his hands. luckily we convinced him to leave and drop us at the airport just
in time to board.
20. Can you tell me about a famous place or person in your country? What do
you know about it/them?
I am going to tell you about the middle of the world because it is my favorite
tourist place! the idea of an expedition trying to measure the center of the
earth makes me delirious, even more when I remember that at that time,
they did not have all the digital benefits that we have now. I greatly admire
that group of individuals who traced the first imaginary equatorial line with
great accuracy.
21. What do you use the internet for? Do you think it will ever replace
books/newspapers? Why? Why not?
More than anything, I use the Internet to carry out tasks that have been
assigned to me at work, for example, searching for company data, paying
taxes, although I also like to keep an eye on sports that are being played. if
you know how to use it, the internet can be very very useful.
23. Do you think that the life of today's children is easier or more difficult than
it was for your parents or for you?
I think that every time we demand more from children and definitely their
life becomes a little heavier to carry, I just remember that I started school
and I was almost 5 years old, and now my son goes to school since he is 3. is
incredible. Today's children must also endure a lot of bullying in schools,
and it is essential that as adults we teach them that there are ways to
overcome it, that there are ways to ask for help, but above all, teach each
child the consequences that such acts can leave in Another child.
1. What do you think are the most useful things to learn at school? Does school
prepare you well enough for the real world?
2. How serious a problem is bullying where you live? What can be done to stop
bullying in schools?
3. What films have you seen lately? What did you think? Tell me about a film you've
seen.
4. Tell us about a friend or family member who you admire.
5. Do you think it’s a good idea to study at a foreign university? Why or why not? What
advantages are there to living in another country for a year?
