Gec 2 - Readings in Philippine History
The Philippines takes its name from Philip II, who was the ruler of Spain during the
Spanish colonization of the islands in the sixteenth century. Since it was under Spanish rule for
quite some time and under U.S. tutelage for a further 48 years, the Philippines has numerous
social affinities with the West. Philippine History has forever been composed on the setting who
managed or represented the country and by those that succeeded them however never was it
composed to be objective in light of the fact that the creators were careful about being named
"rebels" or "wala-modo".
By considering this, more youthful Filipinos have begun not to acknowledge anything at face
esteem. They began scrutinizing every one of the "current realities" introduced to them, to such
an extent that more seasoned ages are being undermined and feel affronted.
I say this is something to be thankful for. It's about time we see, hear and peruse all sides of a
similar story.
I want to know about the colonization of the Philippines, where the Filipinos lost their
freedom that they were being abused by the Spaniards. The filipinos become slaves for a long
time. And I want to know the changes in the political, social, and cultural life of the people of
our country.
