CULTURAL AWESOMENESS
Today’s younger generations crave freedom and self-realization, and remote work is becoming
the norm, co-living communities provide the flexible, alternative and inspiring lifestyles

1.1. Introduction:
This thesis project fundamentally questions the image of workspace & living space in the
near future. With the emerging new trend of a more independent workforce, plus the global
trends of horizontal organizational structures & urban office buildings integrated with
informal spaces, the future workspace will focus highly on informal interactions which lead
to the mutual economic benefits of knowledge sharing, team building and job satisfaction.
Achieving:
Spatial Cognition:
Co-working space is the space in which several workers from different companies
share an office space, allowing cost savings and convenience through the use of
common infrastructures, such as equipment, utilities, receptionist and custodial
services. Similarly, Co-living is a kind of community housing arrangement, where
like-minded people stay together and share their accommodations.
Because of interests from the Gen-Z &millennial i.e. the younger generation
in the age group of 18-30 year and living more independently in India so,
there is room for the co-living/working space companies to get flourish.
1. Ease of living:
The whole process of relocating to a new place becomes easier than opening a bank
account, when furnishings, kitchen utilities, and maintenance services are taken care of.
3. Sense of community
6. Safety
7. Lifestyle choices
The intent of selecting this project is also to work on the regional and micro level
simultaneously. In regional level emphasis will be been given to the existing zoning, land
use, connections with the surrounding commercial area.
The high prices of real estate and an increasingly solitary lifestyle are leading people to
seek new ways of living. Despite the similarities with a student house, co-living/working
combines many other aspects, such as a sense of community, sustainability, and
collaborative economy.
Digital nomads and global citizens also adapt well to shared environments. Many of these
co-living/working developments have units throughout the world's major capital cities, so
they can choose one as a base location and move around as needed, rather than keep
hopping from one Airbnb to another.
1.4. Conclusion:
Co-living/working is a new trend that has hit the Indian metropolitan cities. When you
move halfway across the country, to places with no solid support system — friends or
family — you no longer have to worry about buying yourself a refrigerator or setting up an
internet connection or even being lonely. Co-living/working will be there to take care of all
your homely needs.
In India, the co-living/working concept is gaining widespread acceptance and has brought
to the front some new models in the private rental sector.
Though the concept is novel, it’s here to stay, as India’s millennial population currently
accounts for 440 million.
The growing interest for co-living/working spaces in cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai,
Delhi NCR, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, and other tiers II and tier III cities like
Ahmadabad, Kota, Cochin, Jaipur, Kanpur, Dehradun & Nagpur this is a big opportunity for
the real estate investment community.
