    V. Solve these Story sums:

    a. Saroj and her family went for a picnic. They travelled 50km 75 m by
    bus and 105km 850m by train. What distance in kilometre did they
    travel altogether?

    Distance travelled by bus = 50km 75 m

    Distance travelled by train = 105km 850 m

    Distance travelled altogether = 50km 75 m + 105 km 850 m


    = 155km 925m
    Distance in kilometres = 155.925km
    Ans. Saroj and her family travelled 155.925km altogether.

    b. Ragini bought 7m 70cm long pipe for watering her plants. She found it
    short. She needed 11m75 cm long pipe. What length of pipe should she
    buy now?
    Length of the pipe Ragini required = 11m75 cm
    Length of the pipe Ragini bought = 7m 70cm
    Length of the pipe she should buy = 11m75 cm - 7m 70cm
    = 4m 05cm
    Ans. Ragini should buy 4m5cm of pipe.
